Nastenka / Message Board Pomoc / Help Virtual/TVShows 24: Day 6 Prequel An agent interrupts Jack with a call from Kim. Jack goes in the building and picks up the phone. There is no one there. Suddenly, a masked man comes up from behind and gags Jack's mouth. Jack tries to fight off the other masked men, but the chloroform in the gag makes him pass out. The men whisk him into a room and shut the door. A beaten and bloody Jack is dragged into a dark room. The men remove their masks and reveal that they are Chinese. Their leader is Cheng, the head of security from the Chinese Consulate who threatened the American government to turn over Jack for his raid on the consulate building eighteen months ago. "China has a long memory," Cheng says. "Did you really think that we would forget?" Jack wants them to kill him, but Cheng says he is too valuable to kill. Cheng has Jack kidnapped aboard a Chinese shipping boat. It is already sailing the ocean. 7 Months Later In a Chinese prison, Jack is being tortured with electric shocks. Cheng approaches him, showing Jack photos of Hong and Li, and he demands to know which one of them is working for the American government. Jack does not say a word as he did not speak for months. Back in his cell, Jack notices that his guard outside has been shot. Two men enter his cell, and they identify themselves as Americans. They are there to get Jack out. The rescuers take Jack outside where they unmask a Toyota car. The Chinese try to chase them, but the driver shakes them off easily. As they stop in the wilderness, Hong approaches them. One of the men asks Jack if he recognizes him. As Jack smirks in a confirmation, they are surrounded by Chinese, and Cheng steps into the light. He thanks Jack for confirming their suspicion and shoots Hong in the head. Jack is devastated. As he is dragged back to his cell, Jack hears Cheng telling the fake rescuers that the money will be wired to their Swiss bank accounts. 24: Day 6 6:00 A.M. A newscast reports the terrorist bomb attacks in ten U.S. cities. Evidence points to Islamic militants. 6:01 A.M. On a Los Angeles street, a Middle-Eastern man is refused entry to a bus because he looks suspicious. On that same bus is a young man listening to a music player. The player has an extra wire running to his bag. The man calmly presses a button, and the bus explodes. 6:02 A.M. Special Advisor to the President Thomas Lennox debates National Security Advisor Karen Hayes in the White House Oval Office over the creation of detention facilities for locking up Muslims. Lennox tries appealing to President Wayne Palmer that this has legal precedent, but Wayne will not be swayed. 6:04 A.M. Karen interrupts the discussion when she gets news on the attack in Los Angeles. CTU suspects that Hamri Al-Assad is behind the terrorism. Karen notes that her analysts believe his death will stop the organization from attacking again. Lennox has no faith in this plan, but Wayne ultimately declares that CTU must assassinate Assad. 6:05 A.M. At CTU, Milo Pressman asserts his seniority over the sarcastic analyst Morris O'Brian. Chloe tells Morris to make an attempt to fit in. He responds by grabbing her from behind. Chloe doesn't turn down the attention, but she doesn't want their relationship on display at work. 6:06 A.M. Chloe tells her superior Nadia Yassir that she got a weird military request from Homeland Security. Nadia confirms that this is the assault on Assad. They will find him by using Jack Bauer. Chloe is surprised when Nadia tells her that President Palmer negotiated the release of Jack from a Chinese prison. Nadia refuses to give Chloe any more information, but says that Buchanan is meeting Jack at an airfield. 6:08 A.M. A Hercules C-130 military transport lands at Ellis Airfield in the darkness of the early morning. Buchanan and Curtis approach the plane as Chinese soldiers escort a bearded and shackled Jack to the tarmac. Cheng Zhi, the head of security from the Chinese Consulate who kidnapped Jack twenty months ago, hands Buchanan the papers for transfer. 6:09 A.M. As the handcuffs are removed, Curtis notices that Jack's hands have been badly burned. Curtis takes the silent Jack into the nearby hangar. Cheng tells Buchanan that Jack has not spoken in all the time he has been captive. 6:10 A.M. Buchanan explains to Jack why he has been released. Abu Fayed has agreed to give up his compatriot Assad in exchange for Jack. Fayed wants revenge for what happened in Beirut. Jack finally breaks his silence and asks about Audrey and Kim. Buchanan says that neither of them knows he is back. "You keep it that way," Jack whispers. 6:13 A.M. Curtis allows Jack to clean up. Jack looks in the mirror for the first time and sees the scars on his body. Clock ticks. 6:19 A.M. Buchanan calls Karen and tells her that Jack is much worse than he expected. They tenderly express how much they miss each other before hanging up. They are married now. 6:20 A.M. Chloe confronts Nadia about Jack's whereabouts because she cannot reach Curtis or Buchanan. Chloe threatens to blackmail her, and Nadia finally admits the truth about why Jack is being turned over to Fayed for retribution. Fayed's brother bombed the U.S. Embassy in Beirut in 1999. Jack captured him, and Fayed's brother died during interrogation. Once they turn over Jack, Fayed will have full access to CTU's surveillance so that they cannot track him. Chloe is incredulous that President Palmer would have authorized this. 6:23 A.M. Morris sees that Chloe is upset. She tells him what is happening. 6:24 A.M. Curtis and Buchanan drive the clean-shaven and newly dressed Jack to the drop point. Wayne calls Jack and cannot find the words to express his emotion. Jack stoically accepts the President's apology. 6:25 A.M. With Jack's fate hanging over his conscious, Wayne questions his own ability to run the country. He wonders whether sacrificing Jack is a mistake. Lennox strongly disagrees, and says that Wayne's brother David would have made the same decision. 6:27 A.M. Karen accosts Lennox of preparing detention centers for Muslims even though it goes against the President's order. Lennox wants to be ready with the centers because he is sure the President will change his mind. 6:28 A.M. Over the phone, Fayed instructs Buchanan to handcuff Jack at a river access tunnel. Jack explains to Buchanan that he is ready to give up his life if it is on his own terms. 6:30 A.M. Clock ticks. 6:37 A.M. Jillian and Ray Wallace watch the terrorist attack events unfold on television in their Los Angeles home. They argue over whether or not their son Scott should go to school. Scott comes in to tell them that the FBI is arresting their neighbor Yusuf. 6:38 A.M. The Wallaces look out the window as Yusuf's son Ahmed appeals to the police that his father is innocent. A neighbor named Stan chases Ahmed, who locks himself into his house with fear. Scott wants to help his friend, so Ray goes to Ahmed's house. 6:40 A.M. Stan breaks down Ahmed's door and enters the house. Ray intercedes and is forced to threaten Stan, who leaves. Ray offers Ahmed to stay at his house. Ahmed refuses, but Ray won't take no for an answer. 6:41 A.M. Buchanan calls Nadia at CTU and she lets him know the military is ready to take out Assad. Morris secretly shows Chloe a satellite feed that's not on the government grid. They can look up the location where Buchanan dropped off Jack. 6:42 A.M. Fayed pulls up to Jack in the tunnel. "I've been waiting for this for a long time," Fayed snarls. Fayed's men knock Jack out and put him in the truck. 6:43 A.M. Fayed receives a warning call from a computer tech named Sabir who has intercepted a private satellite from a government frequency scanning the tunnel. Fayed calls Nadia, and she denies any such satellite. Fayed warns her that there will be consequences. 6:44 A.M. Milo checks the system and sees that the rogue satellite is coming from Chloe's station. Nadia orders Chloe her and Morris to quickly reposition it. Sabir confirms that it has been done. Fayed threatens to not give CTU Assad's whereabouts because of the deception. Nadia speaks to him in Arabic to try to appeal to him but he hangs up. 6:45 A.M. Buchanan enters CTU and yells at Chloe. He would fire her but he cannot afford to lose the manpower. "We may have sacrificed Jack for nothing," he sighs. 6:46 A.M. Clock ticks. 6:52 A.M. Karen calls Buchanan, and he is forced to tell her that Chloe's actions may have broken the deal with Fayed. Karen is furious with him, but then apologizes for lashing out. 6:53 A.M. Jack is dragged into Fayed's secret warehouse. Sabir gets word that Fayed's money has been transferred and that no other satellites have been following them. 6:54 A.M. Jack is brought into a torture room. He urges Fayed to call CTU, but Fayed punches him repeatedly. The men hook Jack up to a heart monitor. Fayed threatens to do to Jack what was done to his brother. Fayed pierces the bundle of nerves on Jack's shoulder with a knife. Jack takes the immense pain calmly. Then Fayed splashes the wound with a liquid that makes Jack scream in agony. His heartrate speeds up. Once again, Jack implores Fayed to give CTU Assad's location. Fayed says that Assad is a traitor who wants to compromise. He tells Jack that CTU is about to kill the wrong man. Assad isn't behind the terrorist threats. He came to America in order to prevent Fayed from performing the attacks. 6:56 A.M. Fayed stabs Jack in the back with something sharp, causing Jack to keel over. "You will die for nothing," Fayed says. Fayed calls CTU and tells Buchanan that he put a transponder at Assad's location. As Fayed gives CTU the coordinates, Jack memorizes the numbers. Buchanan has the military on call to take out Assad. 6:57 A.M. Morris consoles Chloe by explaining that Jack knows what it takes to serve the greater good. Chloe cries on his shoulder. 6:58 A.M. As he is about to cut off Jack's finger, Fayed is interrupted by an urgent phone call from someone. It's Ahmed, who says that the FBI took his father. Although Ahmed is conspiring with Fayed, his father is innocent. Consoling Ahmed, Fayed says that his father was meant to be sacrificed. When the one man guarding him looks away, Jack rips off the heart monitor with his teeth. The beeps go monotone to signal his heart has stopped. The guard comes rushing over to fix the monitor and Jack lunges his head and bites the man hard in the neck. Jack spits out the flesh and the man passes out. Jack manages to take the man's key and free his hands. 6:59 A.M. Fayed instructs Ahmed over the phone to deliver the hidden package. Fayed returns to the torture room to find Jack missing. He sees an open door and has his men go look for him. Jack is actually hiding below the floor under a grate. Clock ticks. 7:00 A.M. Fayed and Sabir go looking for Jack in the tunnels under the river but they give up because they must focus on finishing their mission. They don't see Jack, who is only a few yards away. Jack escapes. 7:02 A.M. When Morris cannot locate Assad on the satellite, Milo remarks that Jack might have died for nothing. This annoys Chloe. 7:03 A.M. Jack breaks into a parked car that has a cell phone left inside. He calls CTU and explains that Assad is not responsible for the bombings. Buchanan cannot rescind a Presidential order to stop the attack on Assad. He puts Jack through to the White House. As he waits for the connection, Jack hotwires the car. 7:05 A.M. As Wayne listens to Jack's plea, neither Karen nor Lennox is convinced that Assad is innocent. Karen remarks that Jack's ability to assess the situation is faulted by his current state. Jack insists to Wayne that they capture Assad to find out what he knows. Lennox encourages the President not to let his history with Jack affect his judgment. Wayne continues with plans to assassinate Assad. 7:07 A.M. Jack uses the cell phone's GPS navigation to plug in the coordinates that he memorized Fayed saying. This is Assad's location. Jack drives off. 7:08 A.M. Ray Wallace gets nowhere trying to locate Ahmed's father in the police department. Fayed calls Ahmed's cell, and he finds out Ahmed doesn't have the package that he needs. Fayed orders him to go retrieve it. Ahmed makes up an excuse to the Wallaces and leaves. 7:09 A.M. The CTU and White House teams watch the monitors as the Cobra helicopters are en route to target Assad. Buchanan confirms that Curtis has a squad who will be in place at the site. 7:10 A.M. Jack arrives at Assad's safe house and sneaks inside the property gate. He distracts a guard and knocks him out with some chopped firewood. He takes the man's gun. 7:11 A.M. Jack enters the house. Assad recognizes him and raises his weapon. Jack explains that Fayed set him up and they are about to be hit. Jack says that there is a transponder in the house, but the guards say they already searched the premises. One of the men has it on him and is betraying Assad. 7:13 A.M. Jack puts up his hands and Assad orders his men to empty their pockets. One named Omar does have the transponder. Jack surrenders the gun to prove he is telling the truth. Assad grabs Omar and runs out with Jack as the other two men try to secure the computer files. 7:15 A.M. Jack, Assad and Omar barely clear the house when it is slammed by missiles. Buchanan reports to the President that the target has been destroyed. Clock ticks. 7:19 A.M. Attorney Sandra Palmer is alarmed when the FBI demands personnel records at her Washington office of the Islamic-American Alliance. Sandra adamantly refuses to turn over anything without a warrant. Frustrated, she calls her brother -- Wayne Palmer. 7:21 A.M. Sandra tells Wayne that the search was unfounded. She suggests he check out his aide Lennox, who she is convinced has been slowly destroying civil protections. Wayne is quick to defend Lennox, but agrees to look into the matter later. 7:23 A.M. Walid Al-Rezani, the head of the I.A.A., kisses Sandra tenderly and thanks her for keeping up the good fight. 7:24 A.M. Buchanan reports to the White House that Assad's body has not been found. Assad is still alive. 7:25 A.M. Fayed arrives at another warehouse. A man named Nasir is being fitted with a vest of C-4 explosives. He tells Fayed that he will not fail. Fayed promises that Nasir's family will learn of his sacrifice. 7:26 A.M. Clock ticks. 7:31 A.M. Jack breaks into an abandoned house. He and Assad carry the unconscious Omar into the empty premises and hide out. Assad tells Jack that he has gotten his people and the governments that support them to agree to a ceasefire with the West. Fayed is trying to sabotage that. Jack finds some clothes left in the house and changes. 7:32 A.M. Chloe does an aerial frame enhancement of the satellite feed before Assad's safe house exploded. She sees that Jack is the one helping Assad flee. She shows Buchanan the image, and he wants to keep it a secret. He knows that Jack must be right and is using Assad to find Fayed. Buchanan has Chloe look for new chatter on Fayed. 7:33 A.M. Assad finds keys to a car parked in front of the house. Jack tells him that they need to use CTU's resources. Assad is distrustful of CTU and is determined to find Fayed alone. 7:35 A.M. Jack aggravates Omar's open wound but Omar claims to be unaware where Fayed is. Suddenly, Jack stops. He is oddly reluctant to inflict any more pain on the man. This uncharacteristically disturbs him. He tells the puzzled Assad that he could see it in Omar's eyes that he wasn't going to talk. 7:36 A.M. Assad sticks his knife into Omar, who gives up that he knows where Fayed's men are going to meet. After Omar gives him the address, Assad kills him. Assad goes to leave but Jack is frozen. "I don't know how to do this anymore," Jack whispers. "You'll remember," Assad replies. 7:37 A.M. Clock ticks. 7:41 A.M. The FBI returns to the Washington I.A.A. office with a warrant. As Walid takes the agents to uncover the files, Sandra grabs an employee's computer and starts typing furiously. Sandra informs the FBI agents that she has erased all the employee files. Despite the fact that she is the President's sister, Sandra and Walid are arrested for obstructing official business. The agents impound every computer in the office. 7:44 A.M. Ahmed chops a hole in the drywall of his house and unearths a box that he sticks into his backpack. Stan, the angry neighbor, enters the house and beats Ahmed senseless. Ahmed pulls a gun from the backpack and shoots Stan twice, killing him. 7:45 A.M. Scott Wallace runs across the street to help his friend Ahmed. He arrives in the aftermath of the fight and tries to call emergency because Ahmed is injured. Ahmed pulls his gun on Scott and threatens him to follow his orders. 7:46 A.M. Clock ticks. 7:50 A.M. Jack and Assad pull up to the location that Omar supplied. Assad spots Nasir and another man named Masheer. He can tell that they are Fayed's men. One is wearing an explosive vest. Jack realizes Fayed is setting up another bombing. Jack and Assad follow the two men into the subway station. 7:52 A.M. The bomber Nasir clutches the detonator in his right hand. The second man is only the handler, who will leave once Nasir is on the train. The handler Masheer will lead them to Fayed. As the train pulls up, Jack instructs Assad to follow the handler. He is going after the bomb. 7:53 A.M. Jack boards the train with Nasir. Assad follows Masheer out of the station. Masheer calls Fayed to let him know that Nasir will martyr himself when the train arrives at Union Station. Masheer gets in his car and drives off. 7:54 A.M. The train ticket agent approaches Jack, who tells him that he is a federal agent and that there is a suicide bomber on board. The agent moves away quietly. 7:55 A.M. Jack sees Nasir palm the detonator. He lunges for Nasir's hand and wrenches it backwards. They struggle, and Nasir is knocked toward the back door of the car. Nasir grabs the detonator. Jack quickly kicks Nasir hard so that he crashes through the back window of the train as the bomb explodes. The flames shoot into the tunnel and the passengers are knocked back. No one is seriously hurt. Jack slams on the emergency brake and the train screeches to a stop. He runs out the back of the car. 7:57 A.M. Masheer calls Fayed from Union Station to report that there was no explosion and that he can see a cloud of black smoke blocks away. Fayed watches a news report of explosions in Baltimore and Chicago. He is confident that their other attacks are going off as planned. Milo updates Buchanan that, besides the other two bombings that just occurred, there was also a suicide bomber in Los Angeles. Nadia gets word that a passenger identifying himself as Jack Bauer prevented the bomb from killing innocent people. Buchanan wants visual confirmation from security cameras that it was Jack. 7:58 A.M. Karen notifies the President that CTU intercepted a cell call between Fayed and the men orchestrating the bombings. Wayne realizes that Jack was right. 7:59 A.M. Jack emerges from the subway tunnel's emergency exit and gets a call from Assad, who is following the handler. Jack orders him to keep tailing the handler so that they can find Fayed. Clock ticks. 8:00 A.M. As he follows Fayed's handler, Assad picks up Jack. Fayed phones the handler Masheer and orders him to drive to another location. 8:01 A.M. Buchanan tells the assembled White House staff that Jack averted the Los Angeles bombing. He was then spotted working with Assad. Yet they have not heard from Jack since they neglected to heed his warning about Fayed. 8:02 A.M. Fayed calls the President, demanding that the U.S. release the Palmdale "enemy combatants" within the hour. Wayne does not trust him because he has reneged on his promises before. 8:04 A.M. Since releasing the Palmdale prisoners is probably not Fayed's end game, Lennox and Karen argue that they cannot negotiate with Fayed. Wayne insists it's the only way to buy them time. 8:06 A.M. As Masheer heads north out of the city, Jack senses that it will be harder for them to follow without being noticed. They will need to get CTU to track him on satellite. Assad refuses to work with CTU because they attacked him, but Jack says it's only because Fayed convinced them that he was the enemy. With no other choice, Assad begrudgingly gives in to allowing CTU to assist. 8:07 A.M. When Milo orders him to vet the Palmdale list of prisoners, Morris thinks his talents could be used more wisely. Chloe interrupts their argument and tells Morris to grow up. 8:08 A.M. Jack calls CTU to get Chloe to trace the handler on the satellite. Because of the recent attacks' overloading the satellites, Chloe figures it will take at least ten minutes for them to reposition. Plus, there are no traffic cameras in that area. Jack must follow the handler until the satellite is on track. Buchanan directs Curtis to head towards them. Curtis is surprised that they are now working with Assad. 8:09 A.M. A businessman is getting into his car when Jack attacks him, stealing the vehicle. Jack races to catch up with Masheer, who is about to enter the freeway. Jack slams into Masheer's car. He gets out and accuses him of bad driving. Assad pulls up and claims to be a witness, defending Masheer. Jack pretends to be angry at them for protecting their own kind. He says he doesn't want to wait for the police to arrive. Jack peels out. 8:11A.M. With Masheer's car totaled, Assad offers to drive Masheer to wherever he has to go in Newhall. Masheer is in a hurry and agrees to the lift. Assad discreetly dials Jack's phone and puts it on mute. 8:12 A.M. Jack and CTU are able to hear Assad's conversation with Masheer. Masheer tells Assad he will guide him to Newhall. Buchanan redirects Curtis there. 8:13 A.M. Fayed gets word that there is increased activity over the Palmdale area. His plan is working, but it will be too late for the Americans to respond once the prisoners are released. 8:14 A.M. Ahmed takes Scott back to the Wallace house at gunpoint. The entire Wallace family is taken hostage. Ahmed forces Jillian to treat his wounds. She encourages him to see a doctor, but he doesn't have time. Unable to walk, Ahmed orders Ray to deliver his package. Ahmed threatens to kill Jillian and Scott if the police show up at the house. 8:17 A.M. Clock ticks. 8:21 A.M. Morris questions why Chloe took Milo's side over his. She thinks he always wants to be fired from whatever job he is doing. 8:22 A.M. Karen updates the President on Jack's alliance with Assad to find Fayed. Wayne still wants to proceed with loading the prisoners at Palmdale, per Fayed's demands. Unless Jack can get Fayed within the hour, they have no other option. 8:23 A.M. Assad comments out loud the name of an exit that he passes. Chloe makes note on the satellite tracking. 8:24 A.M. Jack pulls off and gets into Curtis's car as they follow Assad. Curtis asks Jack if it bothers him that they must work with Assad, a known terrorist. Jack doesn't know what to think anymore. Jack notes that it isn't their call. "We'll see about that," Curtis replies. 8:27 A.M. Scott sneaks a knife into his pocket, but is unable to stab Ahmed. Clock ticks. 8:32 A.M. Over a hundred terrorist prisoners are lined up at the Palmdale Military Prison. One of the prisoners is named Numair. 8:33 A.M. Lennox informs Wayne that his sister was arrested because she deleted personnel files requested by the FBI. Sandra is being detained in a provisional detention facility. 8:34 A.M. As they arrive at the detention facility, Sandra apologizes to Walid because it was all her fault he was arrested. 8:35 A.M. Wayne calls for Sandra, furious. He has ordered her release. Sandra says she would rather defend civil liberties against his Administration's violation of them. She demands Walid's release instead and vows that there is nothing incriminating in those files. Wayne will not do that, saying that Walid shouldn't worry if he is truly innocent. 8:36 A.M. Sandra demands to speak to Walid. The FBI agent won't let her because Walid is being held under the revised enemy combatant statute. "Is the law being completely thrown out the window?" she asks before being escorted out. 8:37 A.M. A man named Salim being held in detention refuses to cooperate with the National Guardsmen corralling him, and Walid steps in to assist the man. A Guardsman slugs Walid with a baton and sends him off for interrogation. Salim looks at Walid in gratitude. Clock ticks. 8:41 A.M. As Assad drives in the town of Newhall, he questions Masheer on who he is meeting. Masheer is cagey about his answers. Chloe gets the address where Assad is dropping off Masheer and pulls up data on all the buildings within a mile radius. 8:42 A.M. Masheer gets out of the car, and Assad tells Jack that the coast is clear. Despite Jack's insistence that they work with him, Curtis treats Assad like a prisoner instead of a collaborator. Curtis has his men take Assad into custody. Jack earnestly promises Assad that he will take care of him. 8:44 A.M. Chloe tracks Masheer to a storage warehouse. The TAC teams see him open up a storage locker. There are crates with Czech writing and ammunition. Jack radios Buchanan that Fayed isn't there, but Buchanan wants to move in anyway. Jack thinks it's too risky. Masheer sees an agent and fires. The TAC teams shoot back. Masheer detonates a grenade, and the entire storage locker explodes. 8:46 A.M. Jack lets Buchanan know that the suspect is dead, and that the laptop he had in storage was probably damaged in the fire. Buchanan quickly notifies the President that the suspect committed suicide rather than be arrested. With Fayed not captured, Wayne has no choice but to release the prisoners at Palmdale. 8:47 A.M. The Guardsmen load the Palmdale prisoners onto a plane according to Fayed's demands. 8:48 A.M. Clock ticks. 8:53 A.M. Ray delivers Ahmed's package to a man at an electronics parts store. The man opens it and sees bundles of cash. He says he will need an extra $50,000 in order to get the component Ahmed was purchasing. Panicked, Ray calls his house. Ahmed orders him to do whatever it takes to get the item or else he will kill his family. 8:56 A.M. Ray knocks the man over the head with a lamp, and the man reaches for his gun. Ray fights him off and pounds the man's head on the ground. Ray accidentally kills him. 8:57 A.M. Chloe is able to recover the most recently accessed data file on the laptop in the damaged storage facility. It is a wiring schematic for an object that looks exactly like the component Ray was sent to pick up. Chloe sends it to Jack. Assad recognizes it as a nuclear detonator. Curtis lunges at Assad, furious that he knew about this ahead of time. Jack must pull Curtis off of Assad. 8:58 A.M. Assad says that there is a reference file at the bottom that reads "Sovtel 3." Nadia knows that this is a Russian suitcase nuke. She says that one had been missing and was suspected to have gone to a scientist with terrorist ties named Hasan Numair. Chloe uncovers an old surveillance photo of the man, and Assad knows him as an acquaintance of Fayed. Chloe finds that Numair is a terrorist being released from the Palmdale prison. Assad says that Fayed's plan all along was to force the United States to free Numair. 8:59 A.M. Buchanan has Nadia warn the President that he is stopping the Palmdale release. He notifies the Guardsman on duty to look for Numair on the plane. The Guardsman cannot locate Numair among the prisoners. On an empty prisoner bus, another guard kills the driver and finds Numair hiding in the back. "Hurry up," the guard tells him. "Fayed is waiting for you." Numair runs out of the bus unnoticed. Clock ticks. 9:00 A.M. Neither the Palmdale officers of the satellite can find Numair in the area near the prison. Buchanan is frustrated because Numair is a nuclear engineer and can build a bomb. 9:02 A.M. Milo asks Morris for help on the search, but Morris claims he is doing a task for Chloe. Chloe denies assigning any work to him. Milo tells Morris off and orders him to do what he is told. 9:04 A.M. Karen lets the President know that a suitcase nuke might potentially kill hundreds of thousands of people. "Get me Jack Bauer," Wayne intones. 9:05 A.M. Jack is with Assad and Curtis going over the wreckage at the storage facility. Curtis makes it clear to Assad that he is still the enemy. Wayne calls Jack and asks him to take charge of the search for Fayed. Jack isn't sure if he is up to the task, but has dutifully accepts the President's request. 9:06 A.M. Jack pleads with Curtis to accept Assad as part of the investigation because he is invaluable. Curtis snidely questions what the Chinese did to Jack that would affect his judgment. Assad interrupts with news that a PDA was found in the blast site. It says that the "visitor" arrived last week. Assad says that this is a code for a nuclear weapon. He thinks Numair must be the key to making the device operational. 9:08 A.M. Jack warns Curtis that nothing is more important than finding Fayed and Numair. Yet just in case, Jack calls Chloe to secretly run a cross check on any relationship between Curtis and Assad. 9:09 A.M. Numair arrives at Fayed's safe house and he examines the nuclear device. It still requires Ahmed's component to reprogram the trigger. 9:10 A.M. Ahmed orders Ray to deliver the component to Fayed, but Ray refuses. Ray threatens to destroy the component unless he knows his family is safe. Ahmed will only release one of them, and he lets Jillian go. Ahmed instructs Jillian to drive away and call her husband on the payphone to prove she is safe. He warns her that he will shoot Scott if she calls the police. 9:11 A.M. Jillian calls Ray from the road, and both aren't sure whether Ahmed will kill Scott regardless of their actions. Ray doesn't want to risk it. He phones Ahmed from the payphone and receives an address to deliver the package to Fayed. 9:13 A.M. Despite her husband's wishes, Jillian calls 911. Clock ticks. 9:19 A.M. Chloe tries to break up an argument between Milo and Morris by laying the cards on the table. She dated Milo a few times, but it didn't work out so she got back together with Morris. She orders the two of them to get over it. Both men are a bit embarrassed and return to work. 9:21 A.M. Buchanan puts through Jillian's call to Jack. She explains that Ahmed is holding her son captive so that her husband will deliver a package to someone named Fayed. Jack heads to Jillian's house. Curtis is reluctant to have Assad accompany them on a tactical mission, but he follows Jack's command. 9:22 A.M. The President meets with an ambassador from a Middle East country. While the ambassador is not one hundred percent sure, he has reason to believe that Assad wants to negotiate towards peace. This corroborates Jack's claim. Karen wants to lock down cooperation with Assad. Lennox is hesitant to form such a partnership with a known terrorist. 9:24 A.M. Wayne calls Jack and tells him he wants to make a formal arrangement with Assad. Wayne speaks to Assad and offers him full protection and a pardon for past crimes in return for his help finding Fayed and a commitment to furthering peace. Assad asks for the pledge in writing. Jack tells the President that he is glad he did not have to make that decision himself. 9:25 A.M. Lennox intercepts a call from Sandra and refuses to disturb the President. She is angry that Walid is still being held in prison. Sandra threatens to embarrass the Administration in order to protect Walid. She says she will hold Lennox personally responsible if anything happens to him. 9:26 A.M. Walid is lead into the Anacostia Detention Facility in Washington. Salim, the man who Walid stood up for in the lineup, recognizes him and says, "Before this day is over, they will all pay." Although he doesn't understand Arabic, Walid listens intently as Salim speaks to another man. 9:28 A.M. Ray arrives at Fayed's safe house with the package. Fayed is not pleased, but intends to keep Ray alive as a bargaining chip in case something goes wrong. 9:31 A.M. Ray tries to explain that Ahmed will release his son if Fayed gives the OK. Fayed calls Ahmed and chides him for involving an outsider. He orders Ahmed to kill the boy. Clock ticks. 9:37 A.M. Lennox advises the President to keep Assad's official pardon hidden from the public, and he and Karen are able to work up a statement that is palatable to the press. Lennox confides to Wayne that he is still not comfortable colluding with Assad. "It makes me appreciate your loyalty all the more," Wayne says. 9:38 A.M. Jack and his TAC team pull up to the Wallace house and scan the perimeter. 9:39 A.M. Inside, Scott questions why Ahmed is still holding him captive when his father completed the task. Ahmed is about to kill Scott, who begs for his life. 9:41 A.M. The TAC team raids the house and Ahmed shoots back. Ahmed is about to fire at Jack when another agent shoots Ahmed. Jack calls for the EMT because he needs Ahmed awake enough to tell him where Ray took the package. Yet Scott remembers the address and tells the agents. Jack quickly calls it in to Buchanan. 9:42 A.M. Clock ticks. 9:48 A.M. With the location of Fayed's safe house now known, Chloe pulls up satellite images of the area. Buchanan calls the White House with the news that they may have found the suitcase nuke. 9:49 A.M. Sandra visits Walid at the Anacostia Facility. He tells her that he overheard some of the inmates repeat an Arabic phrase he didn't understand. He thinks it has connections with the terrorist attacks. Walid must convince Sandra to forget her lawyer tendencies and pass on the phrase to the FBI. They kiss goodbye. 9:50 A.M. Jack gives Assad the pardon from the President. Assad wishes him luck and shakes his hand. 9:51 A.M. Curtis is angry that Assad has been given a pardon by the United States government. Jack explains that it is up to neither of them. Curtis seemingly accepts this. 9:52 A.M. Jillian returns home, and Jack explains that his team will try to save Ray. Chloe tells Jack that she found a connection between Curtis and Assad. After Desert Storm, Assad's men ambushed Curtis's squad and beheaded some of his soldiers. 9:53 A.M. Jack finds Curtis outside with his gun held up to Assad's forehead. Jack tells him to put down his weapon by order of the President. Curtis refuses. Jack says that he gave Assad his word that he would protect him. As Curtis keeps his gun trained, Jack begs him to stop. "I can't let this animal live," Curtis says. Jack shoots Curtis in the neck and the TAC members shuffle Assad to safety. 9:55 A.M. Jack drops his gun and raises his hands in a gesture of despair at Curtis' death. Jack walks away in tears. He vomits and falls to the ground. 9:56 A.M. Buchanan calls Jack after hearing what happened and tries to bolster his spirits. "Tell the President I'm sorry," Jack says. "I can't do this anymore." Buchanan beseeches him to continue with the mission because he is needed. Jack says he is done and hangs up. He continues sobbing. Buchanan remains pensive and a bit shaken by his conversation with Jack. He gets word that Ahmed died of his wounds. 9:57 A.M. CTU and the White House teams watch on monitors as the TAC teams get into position at Fayed's safe house. 9:58 A.M. Numair completes work on the suitcase nuke. One of the guards sees the TAC teams and gunfire erupts. Ray ducks to the ground. Amid the shooting, Numair detonates the nuclear device. From where he is, Jack can see the mushroom cloud in the sky. The White House team is in shock. Wayne orders Karen to put the entire military at the disposal of the Los Angeles response teams. 9:59 A.M. As CTU watches the video in horror, Milo alerts them to a warning from the FBI. An Arabic phrase was overheard at one of the detention centers. Nadia translates it: "five visitors". There are four more nuclear weapons out there. Clock ticks. 10:00 A.M. The White House team watches news reports of the bomb blast in Valencia, which is just outside of Los Angeles. Luckily, the wind is blowing the radiation away from populated areas. Karen learns that there are four more nuclear weapons. Although the Secret Service moves the President to the bunker, Wayne wants to give a televised speech to the public within the hour. 10:03 A.M. Milo gets word that all field agents in the area who were engaged with hostiles were killed in the blast. 10:04 A.M. Karen calls Buchanan from the bunker and is relieved to find out that the CTU office was not affected. Buchanan cannot confirm whether Fayed was killed in the blast or whether the other four nukes are still at large. 10:06 A.M. Chloe is overwhelmed when she finds out that Curtis is dead. She tells Morris that Jack quit because he was forced to kill Curtis. 10:07 A.M. Mass panic ensues on a street in Granada Hills. Fayed drives in a van, telling a man named Darren McCarthy on the phone that the bomb went off when the feds found his location. Both the engineer and the trigger were destroyed in the blast. Fayed offers McCarthy double the price to find him someone who can replicate the trigger device for the remaining four warheads. 10:08 A.M. Amid the fleeing people, Jack stands alone, silently looking at the mushroom cloud. A man approaches him for help because his helicopter crashed into a roof and there is someone stuck inside. The man had no idea that a nuclear bomb went off. 10:09 A.M. Jack runs to the crash site and climbs to the roof of the building. The helicopter teeters on the edge. Jack opens the chopper door and pulls the survivor out just before the craft topples to the ground and explodes into flames. 10:11 A.M. Jack phones Buchanan, who tells him that there are still four more bombs. Jack asks to be picked up even though he intended to quit. "Not after this," Jack says, looking at the mushroom cloud. Clock ticks. 10:16 A.M. The White House compiles a list of countries that might be funding Fayed. They all claim to disavow the attacks. An Admiral advises the President to bomb all of these countries to send a message. Wayne says they will only retaliate against the enemy. Karen reports that CTU assesses that the bomb was meant for a more populated area. The scientist Numair was responsible for triggering it, and he was killed in the blast. 10:18 A.M. Fayed has the other four weapons with him. Assad arrives at CTU. He pledges to Buchanan that he is not their enemy today. He offers him his hand, but Buchanan does not accept it. 10:19 A.M. Buchanan briefs Assad on the four other bombs still at large. Assad had no idea that Fayed possessed nuclear firepower. He had sent Fayed to meet with a Russian general a year ago about weaponry, but nothing transacted. Chloe starts looking up the name Dmitri Gredenko. 10:21 A.M. Clock ticks. 10:25 A.M. Morris compiles a list of Los Angeles people who conducted business with Gredenko. One of them is Phillip Bauer, the chairman of BXJ Technologies. This is Jack's father. 10:27 A.M. Buchanan calls Jack to tell him about his father's link to Gredenko. Although Jack hasn't spoken to his father in over nine years, he wants to question him alone. 10:28 A.M. At the Anacostia Facility, the FBI agents tell Sandra that they will need to wire Walid so that they can pick up more terrorist cel chatter from the inmates. Sandra is outraged because Walid isn't trained for this. 10:29 A.M. Walid approaches Salim in the prison yard and asks if he has heard anything more about the attacks. Salim says nothing. The FBI agents make a show of grabbing Walid. The other inmates watch and listen as Walid is interrogated about his terrorist activities. The agents quietly explain to Walid that they are wiring him. He follows along as they pretend to rough him up. They let him know that he is to say the FBI asked him about Fayed. The agents give him a bruise under his eye for effect. 10:30 A.M. Afterwards, Salim goes to Walid, but he doesn't want to talk. The agents confirm that they have a clear signal from the wire. 10:31 A.M. Jack phones his father's San Marino mansion and speaks to Sam, the servant. Phillip left mysteriously and didn't take his cell phone. Sam says he tried to find him through Jack's brother as well. "Where's Gray?" Jack asks. 10:32 A.M. Liddy, the head of security at the Bauer mansion, overhears Sam's conversation. Liddy phones Graem Bauer, Jack's brother, to tell him that Jack is in Los Angles looking for their father. Graem is the leader of the Bluetooth power broker conspirators who were controlling President Logan. "Damnit, we should have killed Jack when we had the chance instead of handing him over to the Chinese," Graem says. "We tried," Liddy responds. 10:33 A.M. Clock ticks. 10:38 A.M. Jack calls Graem, who acts completely surprised. Graem claims he and Phillip attempted to get him out of China. He also says he has no idea where their father is, and he promises to call back. 10:39 A.M. Jack calls Chloe to look up his brother's address because he doesn't want Graem to know he's coming. 10:40 A.M. Graem returns to his house and is greeted by teenage son Josh. 10:41 A.M. Graem's wife Marilyn is shocked that Jack is back in town. Graem accuses her of still having feelings for Jack. 10:42 A.M. The White House staffers argue over the wording in the President's speech. Lennox believes that this is the perfect opportunity to act more aggressively. Wayne wants the message to be more calming rather than coming off as a policy dictum. 10:43 A.M. As McCarthy works the phone looking for a bomb expert, he picks up his girlfriend Rita. She is eager to flee the city, but McCarthy says that they have a change of plans and are staying because a lot of money is on the table. 10:44 A.M. McCarthy calls Fayed to tell him he will have someone for him within the hour. 10:45 A.M. Clock ticks. 10:49 A.M. Nadia is convinced that Assad really does want peace. Buchanan thanks Assad for his intel and ships him off to Washington, per order of the President. 10:50 A.M. Milo gets word that the FBI has a wired man inside the Anacostia Detention Facility and they may have a lead on Fayed. 10:51 A.M. As Salim defends Walid as "one of them" to his fellow prisoners, Sandra argues with the FBI agent that Walid should not be participating in this. The agent says that Walid is doing the right thing and that the guards on the inside know to protect him. 10:52 A.M. Salim approaches Walid, who feigns reluctance to talk. Walid finally admits that the guard confiscated the phone number of Abu Fayed from him. Salim invites Walid to join the other inmates. 10:54 A.M. Jack shows up at Graem's mansion. Graem hugs him but Jack does not respond. They haven't seen each other since Teri's funeral. 10:55 A.M. Jack demands to know where their father is, but Graem avoids the topic. 10:56 A.M. Jack slugs Graem and knocks him out. He ties Graem up in a chair. Jack grabs him by the throat and threatens to hurt him if he doesn't give up information. Graem says he is already hurting him. "Trust me, I'm not," Jack says intently. 10:57 A.M. Before he goes on live television, Wayne confesses to Lennox that he doesn't want to let the public see how scared he is. Lennox assures him that bravado would be no more appropriate than fear. 10:59 A.M. Despite Jack's demands for the truth, Graem swears that he has no idea where Phillip is. Jack is not swayed. He takes a plastic bag and begins to suffocate his brother. Clock ticks. 11:00 A.M. Karen confronts Lennox about his progress on detention centers without the President's authorization. She accuses him of setting dangerous precedent, but Lennox claims he is only taking defensive actions in light of the nuclear threat. 11:03 A.M. Lennox turns to his Deputy Chief of Staff, Reed Pollock, to help get Karen off his back so he can focus on his proposals for the President. 11:05 A.M. Nadia expresses her concern to Buchanan that the new internal security mandate requires all personnel with Middle Eastern backgrounds to succumb to new clearance restrictions. She will now be hindered from working on all sensitive files when they need her the most. 11:06 A.M. At Graem's mansion, Jack threatens to suffocate his brother to get the truth. Graem fakes crying that he doesn't know where their father is. When Jack goes to use the plastic bag again, Graem admits that Phillip went to see one of his employees named Darren McCarthy. The Russian general gave their company BXJ smaller nuclear weapons to dismantle. Graem had hired McCarthy to handle it, but didn't check him out. McCarthy stole the nukes and sold them to the terrorists. Graem and Phillip didn't report it because they thought they could take care of the situation privately. Phillip put together a security team and staked out McCarthy in Simi Valley. Jack unties Graem and forces him to go there. 11:10 A.M. As they leave the house, Graem orders his wife to stay in the house with Josh. Jack and Marilyn trade a look. Jack calls in McCarthy's address to Chloe. 11:11 A.M. Clock ticks. 11:15 A.M. Despite Morris and Milo sniping at each other, the CTU team determines that they can look for Fayed in the opposite direction of the nuclear fallout and through the technology he is using to track that fallout. 11:16 A.M. As they drive to Simi, Graem accuses Jack of implicating the family. Jack assures him that CTU's only interest is to stop further bombing. Jack briefs Buchanan on his family's involvement through McCarthy. He still isn't sure if BXJ has any other links. Graem notes Jack's lack of loyalty to their family. "If I were you, I wouldn't talk about loyalty," Jack says pointedly. 11:17 A.M. McCarthy works the phone to find someone who can reprogram a nuclear trigger. His girlfriend Rita complains that she doesn't feel safe and he gets annoyed. Rita softens with the thought of the seven million dollars he is expected to reap. Fayed calls McCarthy, and learns that the search is taking longer than expected. 11:19 A.M. At Anacostia, Sandra watches as the FBI agent sends photos of the detainees in Walid's circle to CTU. Morris is prevented from cross-checking the Anacostia inmates because he's waiting on a manifest from Nadia. Milo asks Nadia why she hasn't sent it out yet, and she claims that she is "backed up". Nadia doesn't want to tell him that her security clearance has been altered. 11:20 A.M. Milo approaches Buchanan about Nadia falling behind in her workload. Buchanan covers for her until Milo objects. Buchanan confesses that Nadia was flagged because of her Muslim background. Milo is outraged. 11:21 A.M. Buchanan calls Karen about the new racial profiling of agents affecting his team. Karen blames Lennox and wants to address the issue with the President. 11:22 A.M. In the prison, Walid asks Salim and the other men about the four nuclear weapons still at large. One of the men, Heydar, smuggled in a cell phone and has been in contact with the terrorists. Sandra listens in, and the FBI agent explains that he will need Walid to get the phone so they can place a trace. He wants Walid to stay inside to keep talking to the inmates. 11:23 A.M. Reed gives Lennox a paper with names on it. Lennox approaches Karen and asks her to tender her resignation because she covered up her husband's incompetence. Over a year ago, Fayed was held in custody and Buchanan signed off on his release. Karen explains that Fayed was not a prisoner at the time. Lennox points out that the incident was covered up at Homeland Security, and he shows her the paper with all the people willing to testify against her. Karen is adamant that she did nothing illegal or improper, and she threatens to uncover his secrets in return blackmail. Yet Lennox has the proof in his hands and he again demands her resignation. 11:26 A.M. Clock ticks. 11:31 A.M. Milo covers up for Nadia when Morris questions her slow work. Milo admits that Buchanan told him the truth. He illegally logs her in on his I.D. so that she can work properly. 11:32 A.M. Karen tells Wayne that she is quitting, and he asks if it has anything to do with her feud with Lennox. Karen will not give him the details. "You know what to do, sir," she emphasizes before asking to be reassigned to CTU in Los Angeles. Wayne approves military transport for her. 11:35 A.M. As Karen leaves the President's office, she bumps into Reed and he asks her to hand something to the President. She tells him to give it to Lennox instead. Reed quickly calls Lennox with the news that Karen is out. 11:36 A.M. Clock ticks. 11:40 A.M. When they arrive at McCarthy's office building in Simi, Jack has Chloe check all the vehicles in the area to find out if any are registered to McCarthy. 11:41 A.M. At Anacostia, Walid notices Heydar read a message on the cell phone window. Walid walks in front of him and falls to the ground. When Heydar helps him up, Walid pick pockets the phone. 11:42 A.M. The FBI agent gives Walid a number to dial so that CTU can trace the phone. Chloe logs the phone's SIM card and the agent signals Walid to return the phone. Sandra implores for Walid's release, but the agent needs to find out what else these men know about the bombs. 11:44 A.M. Chloe looks up the log from Heydar's phone and finds that none of the numbers are connected to Fayed. The phone's browser has logged onto a terrorist website that had all the information. The inmates are not actively involved with the bombings. Sandra orders the FBI agent to get Walid out. 11:45 A.M. In the yard, Heydar realizes his phone is gone and he points to Walid. The other men grab Walid and find the cell phone. Heydar and the crowd of men start attacking Walid. 11:47 A.M. Sandra runs into the yard with a guard who pulls them off. Sandra tends to Walid, crying. Clock ticks. 11:51 A.M. With the CTU agents outside standing by, Jack and Graem break into McCarthy's office. 11:52 A.M. Jack opens up McCarthy's computer, but it is systematically shredding files. Jack hears a noise, and handcuffs Graem to go investigate. He finds his father Phillip with two security guards. 11:55 A.M. Jack chides Phillip for not alerting the authorities to BXJ's involvement when the bombs went off. Phillip says he was only trying to protect Graem from going to prison. Jack goes to call CTU, and Phillip asks him to let them handle it themselves. Graem blames Jack for never putting family first, like he did when Teri was killed. This enrages Jack, and he goes to slug Graem. Phillip gives in and says they will do it Jack's way and turn their information in. 11:57 A.M. Graem refuses to accept Phillip's decision. He gives a nod to the other guards, who grab both Jack and Phillip at gunpoint. Graem takes Jack's cell phone to prevent him from calling CTU. McCarthy and Rita check into a motel so that he cannot be located. 11:58 A.M. Graem's men lead Jack and Phillip out of the office building in handcuffs. Outside, the CTU agents are dead. 11:59 A.M. As Graem goes in another car, Jack and Phillip are loaded into a van. Clock ticks. 12:00 P.M. Wayne watches news reports of the nuclear blast, affected by what he is seeing. When Lennox comes in, Wayne is suspicious of his involvement in Karen's resignation. Lennox suggests that Karen quit because she knew she couldn't stop his new plan for the Administration. Wayne is resistant to sign Lennox's executive orders, knowing they will abuse power and civil liberties. Yet Lennox makes a strong argument and Wayne despairingly tells him to convene his cabinet. 12:03 P.M. Lennox lets Reed know that they have succeeded and that the President is ready to sign the order. "Getting rid of Karen was distinctly unpleasant, but she left us no choice," Lennox says. 12:04 P.M. Karen tells Buchanan that she resigned, but she refuses to tell him why. She abruptly hangs up on him, and when he calls her back Karen does not pick up the phone. 12:05 P.M. Chloe reports to Buchanan that neither Jack nor the support teams are answering her calls. 12:06 P.M. Graem goes to his house to erase all of his hard drives. 12:07 P.M. Captive in the van, Phillip wearily admits that everything he ever did was for Jack. Phillip only now realizes that he pushed him away. After Jack left, Graem was all he had left. 12:08 P.M. After arriving at a cement plant, Jack and Phillip are lead out in handcuffs. Phillip offers the men double whatever Graem is paying them, but they don't accept. Phillip refuses to get on his knees at a freshly dug grave. With the men distracted, Jack is able to wrestle one of their guns with his locked hands. He shoots one man, and Phillip shoots the other one. Phillip grabs the keys and releases the handcuffs. 12:09 P.M. Jack uses the dead man's cell to call Buchanan. He lets him know that his brother lied to him and tried to have him killed. Buchanan sends a field team to Graem's mansion. Jack wants Burke the torture specialist brought in too. 12:10 P.M. McCarthy phones Fayed because he has found someone to program the triggers for the bombs. McCarthy emails Fayed the engineer's photo and background. "He'll need to be coerced," McCarthy warns. 12:11 P.M. Clock ticks. 12:15 P.M. Fayed's call is intercepted by the NSA, and the CTU team hears McCarthy notifying Fayed about someone to detonate the nuclear weapons. Morris attempts to salvage an image file that McCarthy sent to Fayed of the engineer. 12:17 P.M. Jack meets up with the field team outside Graem's mansion. Although Phillip wants to go with him, Jack says he will need to question Graem alone and do "whatever it takes to find out what he knows". 12:18 P.M. While Graem works feverishly on his laptop, he lies to Marilyn about what's going on. Suddenly, the CTU teams raid the house. Graem pulls out his gun, but he is surrounded. Jack and Graem are locked in a standoff, but Graem gives up his weapon. Jack has an agent upload all computer hard drives to CTU. 12:19 P.M. Jack drags an angry Marilyn into another room. She doesn't believe that Graem would try to have Jack and Phillip killed. He tells her about Graem's involvement with the nuclear bombs. While she believes that her husband is capable of such things, Marilyn does not know about any of his dealings. Jack promises to look after both her and Josh, but Marilyn only wants to leave. "I've seen what happens when you try to protect people," she shouts. Jack orders for Marilyn and Josh to be transported to CTU. 12:20 P.M. Outside the house, Marilyn sees Phillip and asks him if what Jack said about Graem is true. She takes Phillip's silence as confirmation. 12:21 P.M. As Agent Burke sets up a camera to monitor body temperature, Graem claims to Jack that he doesn't know where McCarthy is. Burke sees that Graem is lying about something. Jack orders Burke to set up the interrogation package. 12:23 P.M. Clock ticks. 12:28 P.M. Milo lets Chloe know that Morris's brother was exposed to radiation and is in critical condition. Milo wants to keep this from Morris, but Chloe disagrees. 12:29 P.M. Chloe brings Morris the bad news. Morris is confused because his brother wasn't supposed to be in Valencia. He tries calling the hospital but cannot get through. 12:30 P.M. With no information on his dying brother, Morris gets up to leave. Chloe convinces him to stay and finish decrypting the photo that was sent to Fayed. 12:31 P.M. Jack checks in with Buchanan and learns that Fayed found an engineer to detonate the nukes. Jack realizes his time is running out, and he presses Graem to tell the truth. Burke prepares a syringe of hyocine-pentothal to induce pain, but Graem still claims that he doesn't know McCarthy's whereabouts. Graem is injected with a small amount and winces in agony. Jack is disturbed to see his brother go through this torture. 12:33 P.M. Jack clutches Graem's head and begs him to give up what he knows and forestall any more pain. When Graem offers nothing, Jack has the levels of serum increased. Graem launches into a series of spasms and Jack holds him tight for comfort. 12:34 P.M. When Graem is still tight-lipped, Jack urges Burke to go even higher with the IV. This prompts Graem to confess that he arranged for the assassinations of David Palmer, Tony Almeida and Michelle Dessler. He even arranged it so that Jack would come out of hiding to take the fall. "Today wasn't the first time I've tried to have you killed, Jack," Graem says with spiteful pride. Jack reacts in heartbroken disbelief. 12:35 P.M. Graem claims his actions were for his country, and he says that the two of them are the same. "We are not the same!" Jack yells in rage before throwing back Graem's chair. He charges Burke at gunpoint to increase the serum to a deadly level and then threatens to kill Graem. As Jack points his gun at Graem's temple, he looks up and sees his father in the doorway. Jack suddenly stops in his tracks. He has Burke shut down the IV drip on Graem and walks away in silence. 12:36 P.M. Clock ticks. 12:40 P.M. Lying in a hospital bed, Walid conveys to Sandra that he is ashamed for spying on the innocent men in the prison. She gets a call from Wayne, who apologizes for what happened to Walid. Sandra tells him that the inmates only saw the information on the internet. Wayne's administration is detaining people who might be able to help, but they are afraid to come forward because they will be imprisoned or deported. 12:42 P.M. Distracted, Morris is unable to make the image clearer. He downloads an unlicensed hack to help further the task. 12:43 P.M. Jack briefs Buchanan on what Graem disclosed. His brother doesn't know where McCarthy is. Buchanan lets him know that Morris is working on the image of the engineer to be used for the nukes. He sends a chopper to pick Jack up. 12:44 P.M. Jack approaches his father, who is visibly devastated by what he has witnessed. Jack consolingly says that he cannot blame himself for Graem's choices. Yet Phillip is more upset at how the family has treated Jack and the time lost between them. Jack asks Phillip to return to CTU. 12:46 P.M. Clock ticks. 12:50 P.M. Morris gets the plug-in to work and the image begins to sharpen. Since it will take a few minutes, he leaves it in Milo's hands so that he can go tend to his brother. Chloe kisses Morris goodbye as he walks out. 12:51 P.M. From the airborne cabin of Air Force Two, Vice President Noah Daniels congratulates Lennox about the plan he has pushed through. "To be honest, I didn't think this President had the stomach for the cure," Daniels growls. 12:52 P.M. Lennox puts Daniels on speaker phone as Wayne enters the bunker conference room. It is filled with generals, cabinet members and advisors. Wayne explains to the group that Lennox's plan sacrifices rights and freedoms granted by the Constitution. To implement it would be a mistake. Lennox argues his case, but Wayne is insistent that the American Muslim community is the country's best line of defense. Daniels suggests the President hear from some other sources, but Wayne stands firmly by his decision. 12:54 P.M. As the image materializes, everyone at CTU is shocked when Morris's face and resume is revealed. Buchanan orders an APB on Morris's car and he tells Jack what has occurred. Chloe reaches Morris on his cell, and patches Jack and Buchanan through. They tell him that his brother's illness was a setup and that he was the engineer McCarthy was looking for. Morris is shocked and goes to turn his car around. Suddenly, McCarthy pulls alongside Morris and fires at his windshield. CTU can hear the gunshots and McCarthy ordering Morris out of the car. Buchanan rouses a shocked Chloe to pull up the satellite so they can find him. 12:55 P.M. Rita helps handcuff Morris inside their car as McCarthy calls Fayed to tell him he is on his way. McCarthy makes it clear that he is only delivering Morris. Fayed will have to make him cooperate. 12:56 P.M. Jack boards the helicopter. At the mansion, Burke allows Phillip to speak to Graem in private. Graem is proud of himself for taking whatever Jack did to him and not revealing Phillip's involvement in the plot. He assures his father that he won't tell Jack anything, no matter how much worse the interrogation gets. They successfully convinced Jack that Phillip was innocent. Their plan is for Graem to take the rap and for Phillip to get him released in time. "The company lives on," Graem says. 12:58 P.M. Despite Graem's confidence, Phillip isn't so sure that his son will hold firm. Graem tells Phillip that he loves him, and Phillip returns the compliment. Then Phillip apologizes and injects Graem's IV with a full dose of hyocine-pentothal. As Graem convulses, Phillip covers his mouth so no sound can escape. Graem's body goes limp, and Phillip kisses him on the head. 12:59 P.M. Phillip bellows that his son has had a seizure. Burke and the other agents try to revive Graem. "If you people kill my son, I swear you're gonna regret it for the rest of your life," Phillip threatens. Clock ticks. 1:00 P.M. As Jack choppers to look for Morris, Chloe has trouble helping him because she cannot get the satellite to respond. Milo sees that she is distraught over Morris, and it is making her slip up. 1:01 P.M. Buchanan lets Jack know that Graem has died from cardiac arrest, which was most likely caused by the interrogation. Jack asks him to break the news to Marilyn when she arrives at CTU. 1:02 P.M. Milo alerts Buchanan that Chloe's mind is on Morris instead of her job. Despite her uncharacteristic frustration, Chloe assures them that she is fine. Buchanan relieves her of her post and Milo helps Jack track Morris. Chloe sulks. 1:04 P.M. As Rita drives, Morris tells McCarthy that CTU is already on their tail. 1:06 P.M. McCarthy sees the helicopter and realizes they are being followed. 1:07 P.M. Jack loses sight of them when Rita hides the car under a freeway overpass. He orders the helicopter pilot to put him down on the ground. McCarthy goes to hotwire another car, leaving Morris alone with Rita. He brings her up to speed that McCarthy plans to use him to trigger the other nuclear bombs. CTU doesn't know that she even exists, so she could walk away free if she lets Morris go. 1:08 P.M. The chopper touches down on an eighteen wheeler truck and Jack gets out on foot. 1:09 P.M. McCarthy comes back to unlock Morris and put him in the stolen car. Rita questions him about his involvement in the nuclear threat. "What this is about, is about seven million dollars," he answers. Jack comes upon McCarthy's car but it is empty. CTU cannot find which vehicle they have escaped in. The TAC team arrives and picks up Jack. 1:10 P.M. Fayed calls McCarthy and tells him where to meet. McCarthy pulls over to plug the address into the GPS. Suddenly, Rita shoots him dead. She pushes McCarthy's body out of the car and takes over the wheel. Morris's relief is only short-lived because Rita plans to turn him over to Fayed and take the money herself. Since CTU doesn't know she exists, she is in the clear. 1:11 P.M. Clock ticks. 1:16 P.M. Wayne Palmer asks an unhappy Lennox if he will still support his policies even though he doesn't believe in them. Before Lennox can answer, the President gets word that Assad has landed at Andrews Air Force Base. 1:17 P.M. Feeling spurned, Lennox tells Reed that he intends to resign because he no longer has influence over the Administration. Lennox isn't so sure that Wayne has the courage to lead the country. 1:19 P.M. Reed secretly dials a man named Carson on Capitol Hill and informs him that Lennox's proposals were rejected by the President. Their "plan" is dependent on Reed having access to the White House, and Lennox's resignation will deter that. Reed wants to let Lennox in on the plan in hopes that he will reconsider quitting. 1:21 P.M. Marilyn and Josh arrive at CTU. Buchanan tells her that Graem suffered a fatal heart attack, and she assumes that it was because of something Jack did. 1:22 P.M. Jack finds McCarthy's body. A witness said he was shot by a female who was accompanied by a man fitting Morris's description. The phone on McCarthy's body had a call that came in from an encrypted ID. Jack sends the data to CTU for tracing. 1:23 P.M. Rita drags Morris into Fayed's building and explains to the terrorists that she works for McCarthy. Morris points out that he is not an engineer, but Fayed knows that he works for CTU. Fayed won't give Rita the money until Morris detonates the nuclear bombs. Morris courageously refuses to do so, and Fayed has him beaten up. 1:25 P.M. Clock ticks. 1:29 P.M. Milo is having difficulty tracing the call made to McCarthy's phone. Chloe offers to try, apologizing for her earlier behavior. She comes up with an address of the call's origination. Jack heads there with the TAC teams. Because of Chloe's actions, Buchanan agrees to allow her back to work. 1:31 P.M. Assad is escorted into the White House bunker. If Fayed detonates any more bombs then Wayne will not sign a peace agreement. Wayne wants Assad to make a public address asking Islamic communities worldwide for help bringing down Fayed. Assad is hesitant because his people will assume he has become an American puppet. Wayne will not back down. 1:33 P.M. Jack arrives at Fayed's building, where TAC teams are in place. 1:34 P.M. Buchanan has satellite position of the building, but they don't know which apartment Fayed is in. Jack asks Chloe to trigger the building's fire alarm. 1:35 P.M. Fayed's men torture Morris and they stop when the fire alarm sounds. Residents exit the building. Fayed knows that CTU has found him. 1:36 P.M. With time running out, Fayed plunges a power drill bit into Morris's shoulder. Morris screams in pain. Fayed threatens to do him more harm unless he helps them rig the trigger. 1:37 P.M. Rita becomes scared and says she will give up the money if they let her go. Fayed shoots her, and she falls dead. Morris says he will do whatever Fayed wants. 1:38 P.M. Clock ticks. 1:43 P.M. Lennox expresses his frustration to Reed about Wayne using Assad in a televised speech. This will convey that America has declared that terrorism works. Reed brings up the idea that there may be others who have the same notions as Lennox and would want to see the Vice President lead instead of Wayne. Lennox is appalled and wants to know who he is talking about. Reed becomes evasive. Although he disagrees with Wayne's policies, Lennox does not advocate the President's removal. He notes that Reed's intimations are grounds for treason. Reed doesn't say anything further. 1:45 P.M. With the apartment residents evacuated, CTU is able to trace infrared on who is left in the building. Chloe and Milo determine the apartment number. 1:46 P.M. As Fayed breathes down his neck, Morris works feverishly on the computer program. 1:47 P.M. Jack and the TAC teams quietly raid the building. 1:48 P.M. Morris completes his task and Fayed orders him to arm one of the bombs. After it works, Fayed instructs his men to kill Morris. 1:49 P.M. Suddenly, an explosion rips through the apartment. Jack and the CTU teams engage in gunfire with Fayed's men, taking them down. Fayed escapes unnoticed. None of the agents outside saw him leave. 1:50 P.M. Jack finds the nuclear weapon armed. He radios to CTU. Clock ticks. 1:55 P.M. While reading the schematics on her screen, Chloe guides Jack in disarming the bomb. The agents find Fayed's escape route in a crawl space cut out of a wall. They think Fayed slipped out onto a medical helicopter that was spotted taking off nearby. 1:56 P.M. Jack gingerly follows Chloe's instructions with shaking hands. He deactivates it with a sigh of relief. 1:58 P.M. Morris tells Jack that the reprogramming device he was forced to build will allow Fayed to detonate the other bombs. Jack is furious that Morris made the device work. 1:59 P.M. Lennox gets an alert over the wire that Fayed still has the capability to arm the remaining suitcase nukes. He calls Reed. "That talk we were having in my office, I don't think I misunderstood you," Lennox says. Reed warns him not to speak over the phone until he has a secured location. Lennox hangs up, unsure of the dark road he is about to undertake. Clock ticks. 2:00 P.M. Fayed lands his helicopter at the L.A. river basin where his team is waiting with the three remaining suitcase nukes. Fayed phones Dmitri Gredenko, the former Russian general who had contracted BXJ to decommission the bombs. Gredenko is annoyed that they are now down to only three bombs, but he has the delivery systems en route. 2:03 P.M. Buchanan gathers his staff for updates. Milo was able to restore a fragment of an email correspondence between Fayed and Gredenko. They surmise that Gredenko has colluded with Fayed because he has an interest in harming America. They assume he is already in Los Angeles. 2:05 P.M. Morris is brought into CTU. Chloe rushes to him, but he is embarrassed and refuses to respond. Jack enters CTU for the first time in almost two years. Faces he doesn't recognize stare back at him. Buchanan lets him know that they believe that Gredenko is aiding Fayed. 2:06 P.M. Chloe thanks Jack for saving Morris's life. "I'm really glad Fayed didn't kill you this morning," she says. 2:07 P.M. Phillip is surreptitiously erasing messages on Graem's cell phone in the CTU morgue. Jack comes in, observing his father's mourning. "I didn't mean for this to happen," Jack says sadly, but Phillip acts like he doesn't believe him. Jack gets down to business and asks what he knows about Gredenko. Phillip cannot hide his anger and claims he had no involvement in Graem's work. Yet he offers to reach out to some of his other company executives for information. 2:10 P.M. Chloe goes to check in on Morris, trying to find words of comfort. He is cold towards her, blaming himself for the other bombs that Fayed will surely set off. 2:11 P.M. Phillip ducks into a corner to call Liddy, his head of security. Phillip orders Liddy to kill Gredenko before CTU gets to him. Gredenko could expose Phillip's involvement. 2:12 P.M. Buchanan shows Jack the toxicology reports on Graem. The coronary was caused by hyocine-pentothal used in the interrogation. The field reports show that Jack exceeded protocols, even after Burke warned him about the dangerous levels of serum. Jack explains that he might have killed his brother but then stopped when he saw Phillip. He swears that he never set out to harm Graem. Buchanan suggests covering up Burke's report, but Jack won't let him lie. "I killed my brother," he says. "Whatever the consequences are, I accept them." 2:16 P.M. Clock ticks. 2:20 P.M. Wayne makes notes to Assad's speech. He is interrupted by a call from Vice President Daniels, who is disappointed that Lennox's plan was turned down. The majority of the Cabinet thinks that this is a mistake. Daniels will not support Wayne on his policies regarding Assad and Fayed. 2:22 P.M. Assad warns Wayne that, by going alone, he might be alienating his constituents. 2:23 P.M. Lennox furtively meets Reed in the boiler room of the bunker because it is not monitored. Reed says that he and others like him will not stand by while Wayne's leadership causes more American deaths. Definitive action will remove the President. Lennox knows that this is necessary, but he is torn that the situation has resorted to this. Reed refuses to let on who else is involved or what will happen, because it allows them to retain plausible deniability. Reed asks him for Wayne's itinerary regarding the Assad televised speech, and Lennox agrees to get it. 2:27 P.M. Clock ticks. 2:31 P.M. Marilyn tells Jack that she doesn't blame him for her husband's death, even if it was caused by the interrogation. She wanted to leave Graem, but he had threatened to take her son away. 2:33 P.M. When Jack asks about Gredenko, Marilyn admits that she once followed Graem to a house where there were men with Russian accents. She doesn't remember where it was, but she might be able to retrace the route. 2:35 P.M. Jack tells Buchanan that he may have a lead on Gredenko. Phillip, who has been watching Jack, approaches Marilyn and asks what Jack wanted from her. Phillip brings up the name Gredenko, claiming that Jack questioned him about the man too. Marilyn says she knows nothing but followed Graem to a group of Russians in a house in West Los Angeles. Jack wants to take her there, so she asks Phillip to stay with Josh. 2:36 P.M. Buchanan sends Milo with Jack in case there are any hard drives with intelligence on the site. 2:37 P.M. Phillip wants to bring Josh back to his house for a "friendly environment". Marilyn reluctantly agrees, and leaves CTU with Jack. 2:38 P.M. Phillip calls Liddy and asks him to find a house near West Los Angeles. Liddy will text him the address. Clock ticks. 2:43 P.M. Chloe asks Morris for help running tactical, but he accuses her of coming to him out of pity. "I know you've been through a lot today, but you're really starting to piss me off," Chloe grumbles before slapping him. She angrily urges him to stop feeling sorry for himself and get back to work. 2:44 P.M. As they drive to West Los Angeles, Marilyn confesses to Jack that she thought about him while he was held captive in China. She believes that Phillip drove him away, forcing him to join the military all those years ago. Marilyn asks if she was another reason for his leaving, and Jack says no. 2:45 P.M. Phillip phones Marilyn but doesn't want her to let on to Jack that it's him. He tells her that he murdered Graem, and that unless she does what she is told, he will kill Josh as well. Marilyn is stunned. Phillip gives her an address to lead Jack to. She terrifyingly agrees. 2:46 P.M. Phillip lies to Josh about the roads being closed. He will take him to a hotel for the night. 2:47 P.M. Marilyn sees the house where Graem had met with the Russians, but she says nothing to Jack. 2:48 P.M. In that house, Gredenko and his men program targets on a United States map. He comments that his country was afraid to attack America with nuclear weapons during the cold war but that he will enact that revenge. "And the Arabs will take all the blame," he says. 2:49 P.M. Clock ticks. 2:53 P.M. Morris emerges from medical, cleaned and wearing a fresh shirt. He sits down, ready for work. The over-tasked Chloe tells Buchanan that she can use Morris's help. 2:54 P.M. As they enter the hotel, Josh comments to his grandfather that he knows he's being lied to about his father's death. He asks whether Graem had something to do with the nuclear attack, but Phillip doesn't give him any answers. 2:55 P.M. Marilyn points to the house at the address given by Phillip. Jack diverts all teams there, including Milo who is in a follow van. 2:56 P.M. As Jack prepares the TAC teams into position, Marilyn attempts to talk to him. Jack is preoccupied with the mission. 2:57 P.M. Jack and the TAC teams raid the house. It is empty. Jack spots the blinking red lights of a C4 explosive. He yells a warning and jumps out the window as the house explodes into a fireball. 2:58 P.M. Milo pulls Marilyn into the van for safety. He realizes they are about to be attacked and peels out. Phillip's henchmen follow Milo. 2:59 P.M. The men blow out the wheels of the van, sending it crashing into a brick wall. They fire at the van as Milo detonates hand grenades inside. He grabs a gun and runs off with Marilyn as the van explodes. The men start chasing after them. Jack wakes up amid the rubble and calls to his teams on the radio. No one responds. Clock ticks. 3:00 P.M. Jack finds Milo's torched van is empty. He briefs Buchanan about the ambush and goes looking for Milo and Marilyn. 3:02 P.M. As Phillip's henchmen pursue, Milo and Marilyn are on the run. They hide behind a garbage dumpster. 3:03 P.M. One of Phillip's men named Hacker calls him with news that they took out the CTU team. Phillip asks if Jack is dead, and Hacker says yes. Phillip reacts with a slight wave of remorse. "It had to be done," he sighs. Phillip needs Marilyn to be kept alive so that she can lead him to Gredenko. 3:05 P.M. When the ambush team spots him, Milo orders Marilyn to run while he shoots back at them. Marilyn freezes amid the gunfire, and Milo is hit in the arm. Hacker takes Marilyn. As the other two are about to kill Milo, Jack appears and shoots them down. He disarms Hacker and has Milo hold him at gunpoint. 3:07 P.M. Jack grabs Marilyn by the throat and wants to know if she helped Gredenko set him up. Through tears, Marilyn explains that these are Phillip's men and that he threatened to kill Josh. Jack is stunned, and the news hits him hard. 3:08 P.M. When Jack promises to help get Josh back, Marilyn reveals where Gredenko really is. Jack has Buchanan send teams there, but he has to do something else. Jack refuses to give Buchanan any more information, but says that it is "personal". 3:09 P.M. Clock ticks. 3:14 P.M. Morris stares into space rather than doing any work. Chloe becomes worried, but he refuses to take her advice and talk to either the staff psychologist or his sponsor. Nadia informs them that Milo single-handedly fended off the hostiles until Jack arrived. Morris snidely remarks to Nadia that this only rubs salt in his wounds because he acted like a coward. Chloe offers to relieve him of his duties, but Morris claims he will be fine after he takes a walk. 3:15 P.M. Jack needs Marilyn to force Phillip to turn over Josh before she leads him to Gredenko. 3:16 P.M. In a hotel room near the airport, Phillip tells Josh that his father was proud of him. Josh is too upset to talk about it. 3:18 P.M. Jack has Hacker relay to Phillip that he has Marilyn in custody. She is refusing to tell him about Gredenko until she sees her son. Marilyn gets on the phone with Phillip and holds firm in her demand. Phillip threatens to kill Josh, and Josh overhears this from the other room. Phillip gives Hacker his location, and Jack gets the address. 3:20 P.M. Josh tells his grandfather that he is going to the soda machine downstairs, but Phillip stops him and shows him his gun. "No one's life is worth the destruction of everything I've built," he says. 3:21 P.M. Clock ticks. 3:25 P.M. Lennox secretly meets with Reed in the boiler room of the bunker and hands over the President's itinerary. Reed wants him to authorize clearance for someone to get into the bunker. This person will kill Wayne and the blame will be laid on Assad. Lennox gets summoned by the President, and leaves. 3:27 P.M. Wayne asks Lennox to read over Assad's speech. He says that he still values his judgment. Lennox complies. 3:28 P.M. Gredenko urges his men to work quickly to reposition the target on two cities. He is a nationalist who wants to bring back the Soviet Union. 3:29 P.M. Morris buys a pint of whiskey and a box of breath mints at a liquor store. He goes outside and takes a giant slug of the liquor, then immediately forces himself to regurgitate it. Chloe calls Morris and urges him to get to his workstation. He swallows a few mints as he heads back. 3:30 P.M. Jack pulls into the parking garage of the hotel where Phillip is hiding. He has Marilyn don a flak jacket. 3:32 P.M. Clock ticks. 3:36 P.M. Morris enters CTU and goes in to see Milo, who is being treated in medical. Milo says that the ambush in the field happened so fast and he didn't know what he was doing. Morris tells him not to downplay his heroics to make him feel better. 3:37 P.M. Wayne commends Lennox on his suggestions to change the speech and asks him to be there when Assad delivers it. 3:38 P.M. Lennox goes back to the boiler room and assures Reed that their man's clearance is in the works. Reed leaves. Lennox calls the ranking Secret Service agent and says to meet him urgently. Suddenly, Reed hits Lennox over the head with a flashlight because of his deceit. "Nothing justifies the killing of a President," Lennox says in his dazed state and implores Reed to cancel the plan. Reed whacks him again on the head and Lennox passes out. Reed calls the Secret Service to cancel Lennox's request. 3:39 P.M. The CTU team assembles in the situation room. Morris quietly slips into his seat. Chloe lies about needing to fix something and she makes Morris come with her outside the room. 3:40 P.M. Chloe tells him that she can smell liquor on his breath. Morris swears that he spit it out and is sober. He realized he didn't want to throw everything away, including Chloe. Morris begs her not to tell Buchanan. She will only do so if he calls his sponsor. 3:42 P.M. Chloe and Morris return to the situation room. They watch live footage of the TAC team raiding Gredenko's hideout. The house is empty. Chloe texts a message to Jack, letting him know that they don't have Gredenko. 3:43 P.M. Jack has Hacker lead the way into Phillip's hotel suite, but Phillip and Josh are gone. The room phone rings and it is Phillip. He tells them to look out the window to see him holding Josh at gunpoint on an adjacent roof. Jack offers up himself in return for Josh. Phillip instructs Jack to come alone or else the boy dies. 3:46 P.M. Jack calls CTU and has a team pick up Hacker. He takes Marilyn with him to meet Phillip. Clock ticks. 3:51 P.M. Milo pulls Chloe aside to ask if Morris has been drinking. She explains that Morris said he spit it back out. She believes him because she knows when he's drunk. Chloe asks Milo not to tell Buchanan. If Morris slips up again, she will personally turn him in. 3:52 P.M. Jack leaves Marilyn in the stairwell of the second building. She touches his face tenderly and thanks him. 3:53 P.M. Jack goes to the roof of the building with his hands raised. Phillip is not there. He enters a machine room, and Phillip emerges from the shadows with Josh. As Josh walks away from Phillip, Jack walks towards him. Jack directs Josh to where Marilyn is waiting. 3:54 P.M. Josh reunites with his mother in the stairwell and they run out of the building. 3:55 P.M. Phillip reveals that Gredenko blackmailed him once he found out about Phillip's involvement in the assassination of David Palmer. It was Gredenko who forced him to keep some of the nuclear suitcase bombs. Phillip didn't know that Gredenko sold the bombs to Fayed until one was detonated in Valencia. 3:57 P.M. Phillip says he has been looking for Gredenko so that he could stop Fayed. "I'm a patriot, Jack," he says. "I never wanted any harm to come to this country." Yet Jack is furious that Phillip let all of this happen to cover up his own mistakes. Phillip notes that this situation would never have escalated had Jack worked for the family. Since CTU didn't find Gredenko, condemning Phillip solved nothing. 3:58 P.M. Phillip has Jack get on his knees. He cocks a round in his gun and raises it. Jack makes a final confession to his father. He never wanted him to feel like he turned his back on him or the family. "I just had to go my own way," he says. Jack apologizes to Phillip and braces himself for death. Nothing happens. Jack turns around and Phillip is gone. 3:59 P.M. Jack runs out to the roof and sees a cell phone left on the ledge. There's a text message instructing Jack to call a number. He dials it and identifies himself. The person on the other end is former President Charles Logan, who knows that Jack has exhausted all his options to find Gredenko. Logan wants to meet because he can help. Clock ticks. 4:00 P.M. Gredenko arrives at an airplane graveyard and gets a call from Fayed. Gredenko expects their plan to deploy the nuclear warheads to take about two hours. 4:01 P.M. Gredenko is annoyed that he has to deal with Fayed's kind. "The Arabs and the West can destroy each other," he says hopefully. 4:03 P.M. When the ambassador arrives at the bunker, Wayne looks for the missing Lennox. Wayne introduces Assad to the ambassador, who is vocal in his displeasure. Wayne explains that he has no other choice but to work with Assad in finding the remaining three nukes. The ambassador acknowledges that Assad's speech might work, but is insulted that the Americans would threaten his country in order to coerce its prime minister to issue a public statement of support. 4:06 P.M. Morris has trouble getting information from the phone landline in the house where Gredenko was hiding. 4:07 P.M. Jack calls Buchanan and tells him about Logan's offer. Logan is under house arrest in Hidden Valley. Jack is outraged when he learns that Logan brokered a private deal after his ousting from office that would hide the fact that he was aligned with terrorists or involved in David Palmer's death. 4:08 P.M. Outside the hotel, Jack finds Marilyn and Josh and asks them to go back to CTU for their safety because Phillip has escaped. Jack promises Josh that he will explain the truth about everything that has happened. Jack and Marilyn share a compassionate moment. 4:09 P.M. Reed escorts Bruce Carson through security at the White House bunker. The agent at the metal detector checks a cassette recorder in Carson's briefcase. He plays back a voice recording and it passes as legitimate. 4:10 P.M. Reed whispers to Carson that Lennox needed to be restrained because he tried to warn Secret Service about their plot. Reed doesn't know whether Lennox changed his mind or was against them the whole time. 4:11 P.M. Reed takes Carson to the boiler room where Lennox is taped to a pole. Carson wants to "take care" of Lennox and make it look like a suicide. Reed tries to convince Carson against this. He argues that Lennox could be convinced once Vice President Daniels takes over from Wayne. 4:12 P.M. Lennox watches in horror as Carson starts to assemble a bomb in order to frame Assad for the assassination of the President. Clock ticks. 4:17 P.M. Reed nervously sends emails from Lennox's computer. While slipping out, he bumps into the President's assistant. She is looking for Lennox. Reed lies about his whereabouts. 4:18 P.M. Chloe notices that Morris has become frustrated in his task. She points out a mistake. Morris assures her that he did call his sponsor, but Chloe doesn't think he's any better. 4:19 P.M. When Morris is away from his desk, Chloe looks up the number of the AA sponsor named Jeannie on his PDA. Nadia comes looking for Morris and questions Chloe about his ability to be back at work. Chloe says they need all the manpower they can get. Chloe leaves a message for the female sponsor to call her back. 4:20 P.M. Jack arrives by chopper at Logan's retreat. He casts a steely eye over the former President and dismisses Logan's small talk. Based on intelligence updates and news from sources, Logan knows that Gredenko supplied five nukes and that three are still at large. Jack assumes that Logan is out for a plea bargain, but Logan insists that he has reconnected with his faith and does not seek a pardon. He only wants to help. 4:22 P.M. Logan knows that the Russian Consul General Anatoly Markov is Gredenko's liaison, despite his lies to CTU about not being involved. Logan says that Markov is protected, and he is the only one who can go through back channels and speak to the man personally because Markov owes him. Markov was involved in the conspiracy and Logan never gave him up. Although Jack doesn't trust Logan, he has no other choice. 4:23 P.M. Clock ticks. 4:28 P.M. Jack calls Wayne and explains the Logan situation. He needs an executive order granting Logan temporary furlough. Wayne is leery of Logan, who was behind the execution of his brother. Yet Jack thinks that Logan only wants some kind of personal redemption and he promises to never let Logan out of his sight. 4:29 P.M. Jack hands Logan the phone. Logan tells Wayne that he has a prior relationship with Markov that they can exploit. Plus, he has experience dealing with criminals like Markov. Wayne threatens to hunt him down if he uses this as an opportunity to escape custody. Wayne promises to never forgive him but reluctantly grants the furlough. 4:31 P.M. Two flatbeds arrive at the airplane graveyard, and Gredenko inspects the cargo. They are U.S. military aerial drones that will be used to drop the bombs. 4:32 P.M. Buchanan briefs his team on Markov and removes Morris from taking lead on decoding Russian consulate intelligence. Morris defends himself to the entire group, but Nadia disagrees. Buchanan overrules her and allows Morris to continue working at CTU. 4:33 P.M. In the boiler room, Lennox struggles with his binds but cannot break free. Reed comes in to check on Carson. It's just started to hit him that they are about to kill the President. 4:34 P.M. Clock ticks. 4:39 P.M. Nadia shows Chloe a mistake that Morris made. Chloe says she told him to turn in his report incomplete. Nadia accuses her of covering for him, but Chloe claims she isn't. 4:40 P.M. Chloe approaches Morris and asks him once again if he's been drinking. She has the report that Nadia gave her, but Morris dismisses any idea that he screwed up. He intended to fill in the rest of the report, and he charges that Nadia is only trying to prove that she is right about him. 4:41 P.M. Alone in his bedroom, Logan prepares to change into a proper suit. He pulls out a patriotic flag lapel pin, and sees a photo of him and Martha from happier times. Logan pumps himself up by quoting the Bible. 4:42 P.M. Jack, who has changed into a suit to look like a Secret Service agent, checks in with Buchanan. CTU has no red flags on Markov, and Buchanan wonders if Logan is being sincere. Jack sees that Logan's Bible has highlighted passages and tells Buchanan that they have no other choice. 4:43 P.M. Chloe gets a return call from Morris's sponsor Jeannie. The woman says she hasn't spoken to Morris in years. 4:44 P.M. Chloe goes looking for Morris. She storms into the men's restroom and Morris emerges from one of the stalls. Chloe tells him that she spoke to Jeannie. Morris becomes incensed. He explains that he has a new sponsor and that he did call him. Chloe is embarrassed and apologizes. After she leaves, Morris pulls out a bottle of whiskey from his waistband. He considers taking a drink. Instead, he pours it down the drain. 4:45 P.M. Wayne signs the executive order for Logan's release. He asks after Lennox because he wants him there for Assad's speech. Wayne has his assistant find him. 4:46 P.M. Lennox starts coughing, so Reed removes the gag from his mouth and mops the blood on Lennox's brow. Lennox pleads with Reed to stop with his plan. "You're just as bad as Fayed," Lennox avows. Reed asks if he was ever on board with the idea but Lennox says he was against him from the start. Reed puts the tape back over Lennox's mouth. 4:48 P.M. Reed gets a call from the President's assistant, and he tells her that Lennox is on his way. Carson finishes assembling the small bomb inside the cassette recorder using explosive liquid from decoy dry erase markers. 4:49 P.M. Carson gives Reed a PDA and a code to activate the bomb. Reed is the only one who can get close to Palmer without attracting attention, so he will have to place it. Clock ticks. 4:53 P.M. Reed tries to hide his nervousness as he enters the broadcast area where Assad will transmit his speech. The crew gets ready for a run-through, and Reed slips the bomb-rigged cassette player into the podium. 4:55 P.M. Wayne and Assad arrive in the broadcast room. Assad thanks Wayne for taking a risk. 4:56 P.M. Wayne pulls Reed aside and asks if Lennox's disappearance means that he has doubts about them working with Assad. Reed assures the President that Lennox will show up. 4:57 P.M. Lennox sees that he is tied up near the pressure valves on the boiler room pipes. As Carson is distracted, Lennox manages to twist one of the knobs with his foot. The pressure on the gauge rises. Carson runs over and turns the valve back to normal. He threatens to kill Lennox if he tries anything like that again. 4:58 P.M. Reed excuses himself to the President in order to check on Lennox. Reed waits outside the broadcast room so he has full view of what's going on inside. Although his hands are shaking, he plugs the password into the PDA and activates the bomb. 4:59 P.M. Assad, who is at the podium, notices some brown fluid dripping. He leans in and sees a red light blinking on the cassette recorder. Assad yells "Bomb!" and darts from the podium. A Secret Service agent quickly lunges in front of Wayne as the podium explodes. More agents run into the room after the blast. They push aside the various bodies, including Assad, and find the President bloodied and unconscious. They summon medical teams. Reed walks away from the melee quietly. Clock ticks. 5:00 P.M. A bloodied Wayne Palmer is rushed into surgery. 5:01 P.M. Jack warns Logan that he is still a Federal prisoner. Logan leaves his retreat for the first time as they head to the Russian Consulate. Logan compares his solitary imprisonment to Jack's sentence in China. 5:02 P.M. Buchanan lets Jack know about Wayne. Jack is surprised that Assad is suspected to be behind the assassination attempt. Assad is dead. 5:04 P.M. Reed looks in on the President's surgery. Secret Service Agent Lowry approaches him looking for Lennox. Reed says that he is filling in for Lennox. 5:05 P.M. The White House doctor updates the Cabinet on the President's health. Vice President Daniels is teleconferenced in from Air Force Two. Secretary of Defense Ethan Kanin tells Daniels that he will be required to take over the President's duties. Daniels wants a briefing with Lennox as soon as he lands. 5:07 P.M. Kanin questions Reed over the missing Lennox. Reed lies and says he has no idea. Kanin summons Agent Lowry to sweep the bunker and find him. 5:08 P.M. Reed hurries to the boiler room and updates Carson on Wayne. Reed still refuses to let Carson kill Lennox. He thinks Lennox can be reasoned with. 5:09 P.M. Reed pulls the gag from Lennox's mouth and defends his own actions by quoting Lennox's urging of extremism. He says that Vice President Daniels will implement Lennox's security plan, but if Lennox implicates them then the plan will be harder to push through. No one will ever believe him if tells the truth. Carson made sure that the bomb was linked to Assad's group. "I know that you will do the right thing," Reed implores. Lennox nods sullenly. Reed cuts Lennox free. 5:11 P.M. They emerge into the hallway and come upon Agent Lowry. Lennox tells Lowry to arrest Reed and Caron for the attempted assassination of the President. He surrenders himself and asks to speak to the Attorney General. 5:12 P.M. Clock ticks. 5:16 P.M. Air Force Two lands and Daniels is met on the tarmac by his chief aide, Lisa Miller. She connects him to Buchanan, and Daniels questions why Wayne granted Logan a furlough. He demands that the traitorous Logan be returned to house arrest as soon as CTU is done. 5:17 P.M. When they pull up to the Russian Consulate, Logan tells Jack that Markov won't talk to him unless he's alone. Although Jack doesn't want to let him out his sight, he reluctantly agrees but warns Logan about escaping. Logan contends that he's only trying to help. 5:18 P.M. Logan meets with Markov and asks him point blank where Gredenko is. Markov claims he had a falling out with Gredenko a year ago and doesn't know. Logan threatens to send tapes incriminating Markov for his involvement two years ago that put the Sentox gas into the hands of the Russian separatists. Despite this intimidation, Markov maintains that he doesn't know anything about Gredenko. Logan says he believes him and politely leaves. 5:22 P.M. As they exit the grounds, Logan tells Jack that he thinks Markov is lying about not being in contact with Gredenko. 5:23 P.M. Markov calls Gredenko to alert him that the Americans have connected him to the terrorists. Yet, since they sent Logan, they probably don't have evidence. Markov assures Gredenko that by the time the Americans find anything it will be too late. 5:24 P.M. Jack orders the limo driver to pull over outside of the Consulate gates. He calls Chloe and has her shut off the electricity in the Consulate for sixty seconds to make it look like a power outage. She has to do this without telling Buchanan. Logan can't believe that Jack would risk violating the sovereignty of another country when he just served a prison term for doing the exact same thing to the Chinese Consulate. Clock ticks. 5:29 P.M. As Karen waits for transport at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, she gets a call from Buchanan. She's shocked to hear that there was an attempt on Wayne's life since it hasn't been made public. Karen realizes she must go back to the White House. Her resignation has not actually been processed yet. 5:30 P.M. As he enters the bunker, Daniels tells Lisa he wants to use the Lennox plan that Wayne rejected. Daniels learns of Lennox's accusation of Reed. 5:31 P.M. Agent Lowry interrogates Lennox. Despite him telling the truth about the events of the last few hours, Lowry doesn't believe him. Daniels comes in and Lennox claims his innocence. Regardless of what happened, Daniels would rather have Assad take the blame to make it easier to sell the security plan to the people. Lennox accuses Daniels of playing right into Reed and Carson's conspiracy in order to reverse Wayne's agenda. Although Lennox still believes his original security proposal is the only way to stop the terrorist attacks, he will have to silence any assertion that Assad is innocent in order for Daniels to clear his name. 5:34 P.M. Daniels orders Agent Lowry not to send Lennox's statement to the Attorney General until he sees it first. 5:35 P.M. Jack scales the wall of the Russian Consulate and gives Chloe the go-ahead. As soon as the power is out, Jack is able to evade the security cameras and enter the building. He enters Markov's office and locks the door, demanding to know where Gredenko is. "You are breaking international law!" Markov yells. 5:36 P.M. Jack knocks Markov out and yells to Russian FSB Agent Vasili outside that he is holding the Consul hostage. 5:37 P.M. Jack asks Buchanan to tip off the White House about what he's just done. Buchanan tells him to get out, but Jack refuses to leave until he gets something on Gredenko. 5:38 P.M. Clock ticks. 5:43 P.M. Lisa informs Daniels that she has written his statement for his live public address. She also says that Karen is returning to her post. The rumor is that she stepped down because she opposed Lennox's security plan. 5:44 P.M. Buchanan alerts Daniels that Jack took the Russian Consul hostage because Logan claims the man is lying about his Gredenko link. 5:45 P.M. Daniels is interrupted by a call from Russian President Suvarov. Daniels says that the actions at the Consulate are based on the belief that Markov has ties to Gredenko. Suvarov warns Daniels to have his agent surrender and then investigate the charges through proper diplomatic channels. 5:46 P.M. Jack beats up Markov, who says he hasn't spoken to Gredenko since he entered U.S. soil. Jack never said that Gredenko was in America, which proves that Markov is lying. 5:47 P.M. Jack picks up a cigar cutter from the man's desk and chops the tip off Markov's pinky finger. Jack threatens to shoot him, and Markov finally gives up that Gredenko is in the Mojave Desert. He is preparing to launch aerial drones to deliver the nuclear warheads. Jack punches Markov one last time in anger. 5:48 P.M. As Jack walks towards the door, Vasili's guards blast it open and take an unconscious Jack hostage. Markov orders Vasili to not let anyone near Jack. 5:49 P.M. Clock ticks. 5:54 P.M. Daniels makes an address to the nation, blaming Assad for the attempt on Wayne's life. He promises to be more aggressive with national security, which will suspend certain civil liberties. 5:55 P.M. Nadia and Chloe are worried that they have not heard from Jack. Morris intercepts digital communications from the Russian Consulate and translates a message sent to Moscow. It says they have an American agent in custody. Buchanan doesn't want to tell the Vice President just yet. He wants a plan prepared in case they need to take the Consul building by force. 5:56 P.M. Jack pleads with the Russian guard holding him captive. He explains that Markov was working with Gredenko who supplied the nuclear weapons. The guard doesn't want to believe it, but he knows that Markov is connected to Gredenko. Jack begs the man to call Buchanan at CTU and tell him what he knows. 5:58 P.M. The guard leaves the room and dials Buchanan from his cell phone. Suddenly, Vasili shoots the guard in the head. When Buchanan picks up the call, there's no one there. Clock ticks. 6:00 P.M. At CTU, the workers all stop to stare at Logan -- the man who had David Palmer killed. 6:01 P.M. Chloe enters the observation room where Logan is being held. She won't tell him about what's happening with Jack. 6:03 P.M. Buchanan introduces his team to Agent Mike Doyle, the new head of Field Ops. Doyle will lead the attack on the Russian Consulate. Their goal is to capture Markov. Freeing Jack is secondary. Milo objects, but Buchanan says that it is ultimately the Vice President's call. 6:04 P.M. Milo confronts Doyle about his offensive tone towards the staff. The two had worked together in the Denver field office. Although he doesn't like Doyle, Milo assures Nadia that the man is good at his job. 6:05 P.M. At the Consulate, Vasili throws a bound Jack down a flight of stairs. He lands on the dead guard's body. Markov orders Vasili to kill him. Jack furtively removes the guard's belt and snaps Vasili's hand that is holding a gun. Vasili tumbles. Jack grabs the dropped gun and shoots him. Markov sees this on security cameras and summons his guards to find Jack. 6:06 P.M. Jack hides in a basement supply closet. 6:07 P.M. Markov orders all phone and DSL lines to be shut down inside the Consulate. Jack uses the phone in the supply closet to dial Morris, but the call is quickly disconnected before he can relay any information. Jack slams his gun on the circuit box wires to make the basement power go out. 6:08 P.M. Milo alerts Buchanan about Jack's call. He knows where Gredenko is. 6:09 P.M. Buchanan tells Logan that they must delay their debriefing because of what Jack found. Logan's theory about Markov is proving true. Logan warns Buchanan that assaulting the Consulate will be a mistake. Russian President Suvarov is reluctant to get involved, but Logan thinks his ex-wife Martha can help because she became close with the Suvarovs. He wants to appeal to her personally even though they are not on speaking terms any longer. 6:10 P.M. Doyle impatiently barks out orders to the techies, and even grabs Morris by the throat when he makes a snappish comment. Doyle alerts everyone on the floor that he is in charge of this mission. 6:11 P.M. Milo warns Doyle to keep his hands off the workers. "You have a problem with somebody on my team, you come to me," he growls. Milo checks in with Morris. The two share a common enemy. 6:12 P.M. Lennox tells Vice President Daniels that he is "prepared to look the other way regarding details on the assassination plot, to a point" in order to defend the country with the right policy. Yet he wants the truth about Reed and Carson to eventually come out. Daniels agrees, but he can't have it happen now. 6:13 P.M. Daniels requests that Lennox tell the ambassador about seeing Assad plant the bomb. Lennox refuses, which infuriates the Vice President. Daniels promises that they just need to get through the current dilemma, and this lie will help them. Daniels has Lisa clear Lennox of any crime in order to reinstate him as Chief of Staff. 6:15 P.M. Daniels wants the ambassador to know that America blames his country for both the nuclear threat and the assassination attempt on the President. This will push them to reign in their terrorists. Clock ticks. 6:20 P.M. Fayed arrives at the airplane graveyard with the nukes for Gredenko. 6:21 P.M. Buchanan briefs Daniels and Lennox on the possible options. Daniels allows Logan to approach his ex-wife, but he wants CTU to be prepared to invade the Russian Consulate. 6:22 P.M. At Meadowcreek, a private retreat for the wealthy undergoing emotional convalescence, Aaron Pierce passes the Secret Service agents on duty to enter the bungalow of Martha Logan. He answers the phone when Logan calls, but Martha declines to speak to her ex-husband. Logan explains that it's about the Suvarovs, and she picks up. Logan presses her for help, but she refuses. Logan asks Pierce to convince her to allow him to visit. He heads there by helicopter. 6:26 P.M. Clock ticks. 6:31 P.M. Buchanan calls Logan aboard the chopper to caution him about the plan to attack the Consulate. He will need to persuade Martha to contact the Russians before CTU engages the assault. 6:32 P.M. As Jack sneaks his way through the Consulate building, he winces in pain. He comes upon two staffers who are sharing a romantic embrace. At gunpoint, Jack demands that they get him access to an outside line. The man says there is a satellite phone upstairs. Jack threatens to kill the girl to insure his return. 6:33 P.M. When Logan arrives at Meadowcreek, Pierce refuses to shake his hand and Martha maintains iciness towards her ex. Logan stops in his tracks, seeing the woman he once loved -- or perhaps still loves -- for the first time in almost two years. He asks her to call her friend Anya Suvarov to convince her husband to order the Consul General to surrender himself because he knows about the nuclear bombs still at large. Martha is reluctant to follow Logan's command, and she turns to Pierce for advice. Pierce thinks she should do this, and Martha agrees to help. 6:37 P.M. Clock ticks. 6:42 P.M. Doyle makes his way with a team to the Russian Consulate. 6:43 P.M. Daniels tells the ambassador that Assad was responsible for detonating the explosion that injured the President. Daniels turns to Lennox to corroborate the story. Lennox fights to hide his discomfort but agrees with the Vice President. Daniels threatens to bomb major cities in the ambassador's country because of Fayed's and Assad's threats unless they help America find the rogue nukes. 6:44 P.M. Buchanan and Nadia think there may not be enough time for Anya Suvarov to convince her husband to change his mind. 6:45 P.M. As they wait for Mrs. Suvarov, Martha becomes unnerved and she turns to Pierce for support. As she strokes Pierce's arm, Martha asks Logan if it bothers him to see her with another man. He admits that it does, and Martha begins to unleash all the pent up rage she has had for him. Pierce asks her to stop, but Martha does not calm down. 6:47 P.M. As she makes her way to the kitchen with dirty plates, Martha stabs Logan in the neck with a kitchen knife. Chaos erupts as an agent restrains Martha and Pierce calls for a medic to treat the bleeding Logan. Martha screams and Logan tries to stay conscious. 6:48 P.M. Clock ticks. 6:53 P.M. Logan goes into shock and an ambulance carts him away. Pierce contacts Buchanan to explain what happened. The Vice President has ordered CTU to attack the Russian Consulate unless Suvarov intercedes. Pierce isn't sure whether Martha is capable of speaking to Anya. 6:54 P.M. Martha, who is in handcuffs, cannot understand why she is being condemned. She calls Logan one of the biggest criminals in history. Pierce calmly asks whether she is able to do what she promised. "Of course I am. I'm not crazy," she says incredulously. Martha takes the phone and coherently explains to Anya the urgency of her call. 6:55 P.M. Doyle's team monitors the outside of the Consulate building. Armed Russian guards are at the ready. 6:56 P.M. President Suvarov calls Markov, ordering him to surrender and hand over Jack unharmed. Markov vehemently snubs him and hangs up. Suvarov tells Buchanan that Markov is not cooperating. Suvarov personally authorizes the American government to use force against the Russian Consulate. 6:57 P.M. The Consulate officer brings back the satellite phone to Jack. As he's about to dial, a guard comes in and fires. The man is shot. Jack takes cover. Buchanan gives Doyle the go ahead, and the SWAT teams begin attacking the Russian guards to take over the building. 6:58 P.M. Jack runs out of ammo and two guards enter the room where he's hiding. Suddenly, a grenade smashes through the window. CTU agents fire at the two guards. Markov calls Gredenko and warns him that he is being attacked by the Americans. "You must launch now!" Markov exclaims. CTU agents swarm Markov's office and shoot him. 6:59 P.M. Jack identifies himself to Doyle, and tells him where Gredenko is. Doyle radios Buchanan, who pulls up satellite coverage over the Mojave Desert. At the airplane graveyard, Fayed readies the first drone with the nuclear weapon. As the ambulance races to the hospital, Logan calls out for Martha. His heart starts to crash. Clock ticks. 7:00 P.M. Jack gets checked by a medic, who finds that he is suffering from floating rib fragments that could cause internal bleeding. Although Jack still wants to be involved in the mission, Doyle sends him back to CTU. 7:01 P.M. Buchanan briefs the Vice President about the aerial drones armed with nuclear warheads in the Mojave Desert. 7:02 P.M. Fayed has only one drone ready to launch. Gredenko hurries him because the Americans are aware of their plan, and Fayed is furious that Markov spilled the beans. Gredenko orders his man operating the drones to launch the first one prematurely. The man pilots it remotely as it takes off from the desert. Gredenko and Fayed pack up their teams and head out. 7:05 P.M. Chloe catches sight of Milo taking Nadia's hand. She tells them that she knows Nadia has been using Milo's security codes, forcing Nadia to come clean about being racially profiled. Even though what they are doing is a felony, Chloe will not report them. 7:07 P.M. CTU spots the aerial drone over the desert and Buchanan notifies Andrews Air Force Base to have an F-16 intercept it. Suddenly, the drone disappears from the CTU radar. Morris panics. 7:08 P.M. Gredenko's man has disabled CTU's tracking capabilities so that they cannot detect the drone. 7:09 P.M. Vice President Daniels can't understand why the most sophisticated satellite network in the world lost a small drone. He asks Lisa to quickly summon the Joint Chiefs of Staff so that they can assemble their own nuclear strike against Fayed's country. Lennox is horror-struck. 7:10 P.M. Clock ticks. 7:15 P.M. Chloe determines that San Francisco, Las Vegas and Phoenix might be potential targets for the bomb. 7:16 P.M. Jack arrives at CTU and sees Marilyn. "I always regretted things didn't work out between us," she says. Marilyn leans in to kiss Jack, but he turns his head to avoid it. He explains that he was with someone before he was captured by the Chinese. Marilyn realizes that he doesn't know that Audrey Raines is dead and tells him that she was killed in a car accident a few months ago in China. Jack stumbles away from Marilyn in anguish. 7:18 P.M. Jack rushes to Chloe's desk and demands to know why he wasn't told about Audrey. Buchanan didn't want him to find out at first, and they assumed they would tell him when the mission was over. Chloe describes how Audrey was using back channels to save him once she found out he was taken by the Chinese. Jack wants to see her file. 7:19 P.M. Lisa lets Daniels know that Karen Hayes will be in attendance at the Joint Chiefs meeting even though he wanted her excluded. 7:20 P.M. Karen enters at the White House bunker and tells Lennox that she is there to represent Wayne. 7:21 P.M. Daniels announces to the Joint Chiefs that he is prepared to engage a nuclear military response if a second bomb befalls the United States. Shocked, Karen advises the Vice President that this will only encourage other countries to start a world war against them. Daniels dismisses her presumption and orders a nuclear strike submarine to stand by. 7:24 P.M. Clock ticks. 7:28 P.M. Despite Milo's reservations, Nadia thinks Morris is fine. Milo asks Chloe to make sure. 7:29 P.M. Chloe goes up to Morris and kisses him. "Just checking your breath," she says. 7:30 P.M. Karen questions Lennox about his support for Daniels's plan because she could see the doubt in his eyes. Lennox claims that he is at the service of the Vice President and that all of Wayne's decisions today have been wrong. Yet he never reveals to her what he stands for. 7:31 P.M. Chloe realizes that the drone pilot has access to CTU's satellite. There is a leak, but it will take too long to find it on everyone's system. Doyle insists they run a trace on Nadia's station because she has been tagged as a Muslim. Milo argues, and Doyle wonders if he's defending her because he wants to sleep with her. Milo is ready to throw a punch at him when Buchanan intervenes. 7:33 P.M. Chloe finds that it is Nadia's station causing the leak, but she cannot shut her down without affecting all the systems. Doyle calls security, and goes to Nadia's desk. He grabs her, demanding to know where the drone pilot is. Nadia looks at him incredulously. Despite Nadia's pleas, Buchanan has her sent to holding. Morris runs a back-trace to the leak on her station. 7:34 P.M. Gredenko gets word from his man that the drone will detonate over San Francisco within twenty minutes. Clock ticks. 7:39 P.M. The White House doctor tells Karen that he had to induce a coma on Wayne to relieve cranial swelling. She asks if the President can be woken for a matter of national security even though it may cost him his life. The doctor would need consent from Wayne's family. 7:41 P.M. Milo wonders whether Nadia is really a terrorist, but Chloe doesn't know what to believe. He makes a crack about Doyle, who is interrogating Nadia. 7:42 P.M. Morris comes up with a location for the source of the feed. It is only a few blocks from CTU. As he grabs Nadia by the throat, Doyle warns her that he will do anything to get answers. She says she knows what happened in Denver and that he enjoys hurting people. Nadia is adamant that she isn't guilty. 7:43 P.M. Milo barges in and tells Doyle to stop because they got the address for the drone pilot. Doyle storms out. Nadia claims she had nothing to do with this, but Milo says nothing. 7:44 P.M. Jack sits in medical with his chest wrapped up. His shirtless back is scarred. He goes over the file about Audrey's death in China. Jack sees rumblings in CTU and a field agent tells him that they have a location for the drone pilot. 7:45 P.M. As Buchanan readies the teams, Jack puts on a shirt and asks Chloe for a PDA and a phone. He tells Buchanan that he is going with the field team, and then he will avenge Audrey's murder. "Please, you have to let me finish this," he asks. 7:46 P.M. Clock ticks. 7:51 P.M. Gredenko's man reports that his drone bomb will reach the target in about three minutes. Gredenko asks to be called when it's done. Jack, Doyle and the SWAT teams wait at the location. Chloe tells them where to enter. Before they advance, Jack winces in pain. Doyle asks if he should lead the team instead, but Jack says he is fine. 7:52 P.M. They move in, taking out guards as they progress. The drone pilot hears the scuffle and fires back. He's about to set off a hand grenade, but Jack shoots him. 7:53 P.M. Jack sits down at the pilot's computer and sees that San Francisco is the target. The bomb is triggered to a GPS device that will set it off once it crosses the zone of the city. He taps Chloe in and starts to steer the drone away from the target. 7:54 P.M. Jack manages to veer the drone away from San Francisco's perimeter, but because he had to turn it sharply it stalls. He begins to lose control of its routing. It needs a stretch to land, and Chloe finds an industrial park. 7:55 P.M. Jack puts the drone on the ground, and the team watches from its monitors as it endures a bumpy crash landing. None of the first responders have reported a detonation. The bomb did not go off on impact. 7:56 P.M. A fire and rescue team arrives at the landing site. A Geiger counter indicates the presence of radioactive material among the flaming wreckage. The drone's cone is cracked wide open. All personnel are told to move back. 7:57 P.M. Buchanan reports to the Vice President that they were able to find the drone and land it, but that radioactive material was released on its landing. Daniels still sees this as an attack on the nation even though the nuclear material was not widely dispersed. "Proceed with the warning strike as planned," Daniels commands. Karen argues that the attack was averted and Lennox adds that their response was only to be instituted at the detonation of a nuclear device. Yet Daniels sees this as a technicality. He wants to hit back, and gives the Defense Secretary the order to launch the nuclear missile once the submarine is into position. It will be there within an hour. Clock ticks. 8:00 P.M. The drone pilot dies at the scene. Vice President Daniels plans to launch a nuclear attack within the hour because of the radioactive spillage at the drone landing. 8:02 P.M. Gredenko cannot reach his drone pilot, and Fayed knows this is because the Americans have found him. Although they still have two bombs left, Fayed doesn't trust Gredenko anymore. 8:04 P.M. Gredenko calls a man named Mark Hauser and demands more of the access he paid for. Hauser will have to download new security protocol to get to CTU. Hauser asks his autistic brother Brady for help retrieving files. Brady happily agrees and gets to work on a laptop. 8:07 P.M. Nadia is being processed as an enemy combatant for the leaks on her system. Milo still refuses to believe she is a spy. 8:08 P.M. While tracing Gredenko's former contacts, Chloe finds a recent scrambled call to a security consultant named Mark Hauser. She locates Hauser's address. 8:09 P.M. At the site, a forensic technician named Johnson lets Doyle know that he recovered a remote access module on the drone pilot's computer. This proves that the pilot had breached CTU's satellite without Nadia's knowledge. Doyle will be chastised for his mistreatment of her. Yet Johnson gives Doyle the device, acknowledging a favor Doyle had once done for him in Denver. 8:10 P.M. Doyle tells Jack he needs to stay back at the site instead of following up on a Gredenko lead. Clock ticks. 8:14 P.M. Karen approaches Sandra Palmer, who is looking in on her brother. Karen asks her to approve reviving Wayne from his coma even though this could risk his life. She wants Wayne to do something about Daniels launching a nuclear strike. 8:17 P.M. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs updates Daniels. They can bomb the enemy within the hour. Daniels receives a note from Lisa and excuses himself from the briefing. 8:18 P.M. Daniels learns that Sandra has agreed to take Wayne out of his coma. He is furious and blames Karen. 8:19 P.M. Daniels calls the doctor and accuses him of risking the life of the President to subvert his policy. Yet the doctor is only respecting the wishes of Sandra. Daniels threatens to nail him down if the President dies. 8:21 P.M. Jack arrives at the Hauser home with his TAC team. They quickly raid the house and shoot at Hauser, who pulls out his shotgun. Brady whimpers as his brother is apprehended. As the agents try to stabilize Hauser's wounds, Jack talks to Brady. Hauser had Brady get through a firewall to set up a proxy server port. 8:22 P.M. Jack tells Hauser that Brady will be prosecuted for helping him get information to Gredenko. Jack will keep Brady out of trouble if Hauser gives up Gredenko. Hauser admits that he was getting security specifications for the Edgemont Nuclear Power Plant. 8:23 P.M. Doyle returns to CTU and inquires after Nadia, who is being transferred to a holding facility. Jack tells Buchanan that he wants to use Brady because Gredenko is coming to see Hauser. 8:24 P.M. Clock ticks. 8:28 P.M. Hauser instructs Brady to listen to Jack. 8:31 P.M. Hauser calls Gredenko and lies about having to go into work. Hauser says he will leave the protocols with his brother, who will wait for Gredenko at a parking lot across the street. Hauser is taken away in an ambulance. 8:32 P.M. Johnson approaches Milo on the CTU floor and tells him that he has evidence that clears Nadia. Johnson says he gave it to Doyle, who has not logged it in. 8:33 P.M. Milo lunges at Doyle and tells Buchanan that Doyle is covering up evidence. Morris says that Doyle gave him the chip ten minutes ago. Doyle explains to Buchanan that he got it from an "unreliable source" and wanted to verify it before bringing it forward. Morris did the scan and found it to be legitimate. Milo apologizes to Doyle, who pats him on the shoulder and tells him to forget about it. 8:34 P.M. Doyle goes up to Johnson. "You've screwed with the wrong guy for the last time, pal," he says menacingly. Clock ticks. 8:39 P.M. Buchanan has Nadia released from holding. He wouldn't blame her for quitting and taking legal action, but he asks her to stay because they need her. She agrees to keep working. 8:40 P.M. Chloe thinks it will be most awkward for Milo when Nadia returns because he hasn't hidden his feelings for her. 8:41 P.M. Milo sets up Nadia's station with full security access. She imparts that whatever would have happened between them is over. "This is not the best place to start a relationship," she says. Milo grabs her head and kisses her. She lets him. 8:42 P.M. Wayne suffers more swelling which could cause brain damage. The doctor advises Sandra to re-induce the coma but she refuses. "I know Wayne would want to see this through," she says. Suddenly, Wayne's heart crashes. The medical team rushes to save him. 8:44 P.M. Jack is unsure whether Brady will be able to make the plan work, but he has no other option. He puts an earwig in Brady's ear so that they can hear each other and carefully instructs him on what to say to Gredenko. 8:45 P.M. Brady is placed in position at the lot as the teams set up. 8:46 P.M. Gredenko's car pulls up to the lot and he gets out. Unfortunately, the snipers don't have a clear shot of him. Speaking Russian, Gredenko orders his men to shoot Brady. Jack translates this. He then tells Brady to get down on the ground, and the sniper pegs Gredenko in the neck with a tranquilizer dart. A firefight ensues with the henchmen and the agents take them all out. 8:48 P.M. Jack sprints to the car to retrieve the frightened Brady. The agents carry Gredenko into the house. No bombs are in his car. 8:49 P.M. Clock ticks. 8:54 P.M. Jack puts Brady into a car and thanks him for his help. Brady is sent to the hospital to be with his brother. Gredenko is placed in handcuffs. He knows who Jack is, and says he will help him find Fayed in return for amnesty and a guarantee that he will not be turned over to Russian President Suvarov. Fayed is waiting for Gredenko to call. 8:56 P.M. Lennox interrupts the Joint Chiefs meeting with news that CTU has apprehended Gredenko. Daniels gives the go-ahead for the nuclear strike anyway. Lennox tries to stop him, but the Vice President refuses. "A reminder to the world there are consequences to attacking our country," Daniels boldly asserts. Lennox is in shock. 8:58 P.M. The submarine that was ready to launch the nuclear attack has been given orders to stand down from President Palmer. Wayne calls Daniels from his hospital bed to explain that he called off the strike. "I'm resuming my duties as Commander in Chief," he says, warning Daniels not to plan any hostile action without his authorization. 8:59 P.M. Daniels hangs up. He tells the Joint Chiefs that Wayne is not thinking clearly, a result of the attacks on his life. Daniels declares that the President is not able to continue his duties. He calls for the Attorney General. Clock ticks. 9:00 P.M. Daniels assembles the President's Cabinet via satellite to invoke the 25th Amendment. 9:01 P.M. Although it will raise his blood pressure, Wayne has the doctor shoot him up with adrenaline. He wants to be able to face Daniels standing up. 9:02 P.M. Jack tells Buchanan that he doesn't trust Gredenko. Yet a challenge for the Presidency means that Gredenko's pardon will not be binding. Jack asks for the Attorney General to draw up amnesty papers. 9:04 P.M. Wayne defiantly walks into the conference room and is greeted by Daniels. The Cabinet members are authorized by the Constitution to make the final decision. The doctor who treated the President announces to them that he believes Wayne is fit enough to work. 9:07 P.M. Wayne speaks up for himself, and blames his disagreement with Daniels over the nuclear strike as the reason for this vote. Daniels argues that they can interpret the 25th Amendment to remove a President whose policies they disagree with. He says he merely wanted to counterattack a warlike aggression when Wayne chose to do nothing. 9:09 P.M. The Cabinet members prepare to vote. Clock ticks. 9:13 P.M. Nadia tells Milo that she wants to forget what happened between them. He doesn't think either of them can forget about the kiss. 9:14 P.M. Doyle summons Nadia to his office. He coldly explains that he didn't single her out because he's racist. He was just doing his job. He believes Milo caused the leak by logging in with the wrong security parameters. Doyle wants Nadia to get the evidence from Milo's system to prove this. She feels angry and manipulated, but Doyle says she can help Milo avoid the same humiliation that she endured. 9:16 P.M. Karen and Sandra try to convince a weakened Wayne to marginalize Daniels, but Wayne can't do that without alienating Daniels's supporters. The Cabinet is reconvened. 9:17 P.M. Lennox calls for a vote. Seven people, including Karen, support the President. Seven oppose. The Attorney General explains that the Amendment requires the Vice President and the majority of the Cabinet must agree. Since there is no majority, Wayne remains in office. Wayne smiles in relief. 9:18 P.M. Daniels interjects that Karen's vote does not count because she resigned from her post. Karen contests that she did resume her duties, but Daniels claims he never recognized her as National Security Advisor after that. Since her vote isn't valid, there is a majority split against Wayne. "I won't let you steal the Presidency," Wayne says forcefully. The Attorney General determines that this is a legal question. The Supreme Court will have to hear the issue. Wayne winces in pain. 9:20 P.M. Daniels accuses Lennox of not being on his side. Lennox informs him that he has only been on the side of the United States of America. Clock ticks. 9:24 P.M. Nadia guiltily asks Milo for help resetting her station. When he leaves to go do it for her, she gets into his workstation and quickly downloads files onto a USB key drive. 9:25 P.M. Nadia gives the key to Doyle and smugly says he was right about Milo being responsible for the security breach. She is surprised when he alters the logs so that no one will discover Milo's mistake. "All I care about is finding those nukes," he says. "And we have a better chance of doing that with Milo on board, whether he likes me or not." She's surprised again when Doyle quotes the Koran. He says he has read every religious book because he cannot find his own answers. Doyle is not the man Nadia thought he was. 9:26 P.M. Nadia returns to her station. Milo asks her what Doyle wanted, and she lies. Yet Milo senses something is off about Nadia. 9:27 P.M. Karen calls Buchanan and fills him in on the 25th Amendment vote. She is unsure whether her resignation will really hold up the decision. Buchanan comforts her. She is scared that Daniels will win and it will all be her fault. 9:28 P.M. Gredenko verifies the agreements with his lawyer, and CTU prepares a team to pounce on Fayed. Jack threatens to kill Gredenko if he tips off Fayed. 9:29 P.M. Gredenko phones Fayed and makes plans to meet at the Santa Monica Pier. 9:30 P.M. Sandra writes the brief for the Supreme Court arguing that Daniels accepted Karen's return to office. 9:31 P.M. In the bunker lounge, Lisa discusses the case with Daniels. The Vice President is convinced that a weak Wayne will only encourage the terrorists to fight back. Lisa suggests she lie to the Supreme Court. She can say that Daniels told her Karen's return would only be temporary. She believes Daniels will do what is right for the good of the country. He takes her hand warmly in thanks. Daniels is aware that they were talking about commiting a perjury. 9:34 P.M. Halil, one of Fayed's men, advocates detonating the bombs themselves without Gredenko's help. Fayed turns Halil down. 9:35 P.M. Lennox enters the bunker lounge and shows the Vice President the bug he planted in the room to protect himself after Daniels had asked him to lie to the ambassador. Lennox plays back a tape of Lisa offering to perjure herself and Daniels accepting her proposition. This is a federal offense. Lennox wants Daniels to call off his challenge to Wayne's presidency. 9:37 P.M. Clock ticks. 9:41 P.M. Karen readies the launch codes so that Wayne can cancel the nuclear strike if the Supreme Court rules in his favor. Sandra happily brings news that Daniels withdrew his affidavit. Wayne will remain the President. When Karen and Sandra leave the room, Wayne calls the doctor because he is struggling with pain. 9:42 P.M. Jack gets into position at the pier, and another agent injects Gredenko's arm with a radioactive tracking device. Since Doyle's team is still far away and Fayed gave explicit orders about time, Jack sends Gredenko to meet with Fayed. 9:44 P.M. A cell phone rings, and Gredenko finds it hidden on a railing. No one is on the line. But Jack can see Gredenko read a text message instructing him where to go. 9:45 P.M. Gredenko is grabbed by Fayed's men and taken into a building. He silently shows Fayed the listening device CTU placed in his jacket. Gredenko unplugs it, and Morris loses audio at CTU. Gredenko explains to Fayed that the Americans forced his hand but that he has a plan. 9:46 P.M. Jack heads to the building where CTU has traced Gredenko. Milo confirms that Gredenko is still inside but the room is empty. Jack finds Gredenko's severed arm on the ground. 9:47 P.M. Jack calls for the field team to invade, and he follows the trail of blood throughout the building. Fayed's two men help the wounded Gredenko escape. 9:48 P.M. Clock ticks. 9:52 P.M. Fayed's men spot Jack alone and start firing. Jack ducks for cover but manages to take out the two guards single-handedly. 9:53 P.M. As the CTU team starts after them, Fayed and Gredenko flee into a bar filled with patrons watching the news about the attacks. Gredenko realizes that they are trapped, and he points out Fayed as the terrorist being hunted. The other people recognize Fayed's face from the news. Fayed shoots at Gredenko, but he misses and hits one of the people. The patrons grab Fayed and start punching him. Gredenko runs out the back door. Jack enters the bar and apprehends Fayed. He radios CTU that Gredenko is still at large. 9:54 P.M. The White House doctor begrudgingly gives Wayne another dose of adrenaline which will raise his blood pressure even higher. It's a chance Wayne is willing to take. 9:55 P.M. Buchanan informs Wayne that Fayed is in custody but that the bombs have not been found. Jack will interrogate Fayed. 9:56 P.M. A bloodied and weakened Gredenko hides under the pier. He falls down and dies as the ocean waves crash over his body. 9:57 P.M. Karen and Lennox agree to a truce because they are both working for the good of the country. She asks why Daniels gave up so easily, and Lennox feigns ignorance. "Some day I'd love to know the real story," she smiles. 9:58 P.M. Lennox gets a call alerting him that Wayne ordered a nuclear strike. He and Karen are in shock. 9:59 P.M. Lennox rushes to the conference room and confronts the President. Wayne defends his actions because everyone thought he was too weak to lead the country. "Do not confuse being reckless with being strong!" Lennox exhorts. The Joint Chiefs Commander confirms that the launch has occurred. Lennox watches in horror at the radar image of the missile emerging from the submarine. Clock ticks. 10:00 P.M. As the missile enters its target airspace, Lennox tries pleading with Wayne to put a stop to it. He emphasizes that the ambassador pledged that Fayed's actions were not state-sponsored. 10:01 P.M. Karen calls Buchanan to ask whether Jack has broken Fayed. Buchanan cannot give her any intel on the suitcase nukes that would make the President end the attack. 10:02 P.M. Wayne refuses to wait for Jack to come up with answers. The American missile gets picked up by the other country's radar. 10:03 P.M. The ambassador urgently calls Wayne and says his country has "uncovered new information". General Habib in their central command has been arrested for helping Fayed orchestrate the attacks. Wayne accuses the ambassador of lying about their knowledge of Habib. With two minutes left to the bomb's impact, Wayne aborts the nuclear attack but demands the ambassador come to the White House and provide intelligence on Habib. 10:06 P.M. The Joint Chiefs Commander stops the missile, dumping it into the Gulf. Wayne was proven right when he had suspected the ambassador was covering up knowledge about the terrorist threat. So he bluffed. There was no warhead in the missile. Wayne was using force to get cooperation without risking lives. 10:08 P.M. Jack beats up Fayed, who won't tell him where the bombs are. 10:09 P.M. Buchanan fills in Jack about General Habib, but they still don't have a location on the bombs. Buchanan wants Fayed transported back to CTU in order to do something more drastic. 10:10 P.M. While Jack's on the phone, Doyle tries his hand at manipulating Fayed. He notes that Fayed's number two guy will detonate the nukes and become the hero. "I serve the will of God," Fayed snarls. Doyle raises his gun to Fayed's forehead and Jack quickly intercedes, ordering Doyle to lower his weapon. Doyle asks Jack for more time with Fayed. Jack refuses. They are transporting Fayed to CTU. "Now we're gonna have some fun," Jack says to Fayed. 10:11 P.M. Clock ticks. 10:15 P.M. Lennox apologizes to Wayne for doubting his strength and leadership. He realizes that he was wrong for backing Daniels. 10:17 P.M. Wayne asks Lennox if he has something over Daniels that convinced him to not go through with the Supreme Court challenge. "I'm here to inform you and also to protect you," Lennox says as he leaves. Wayne's right hand starts twitching. He senses his own deteriorating condition. 10:18 P.M. In the SWAT van headed back to CTU, Doyle questions Jack about the use of Burke's methods. He has never found pharmaceutical torture effective. "I have," Jack says. Doyle tries to threaten Fayed, but Jack commands him to stop. Suddenly, an armored truck lunges into the path of the van, sending it toppling over. Gunmen emerge from the armored truck and descend upon them. 10:19 P.M. Jack knocks out the front windshield and shoots. Doyle goes out the back, returning fire. Doyle is hit in the chest and goes down. Jack is also hit. The gunmen grab Fayed, take him into their truck and speed away. 10:20 P.M. As a number of CTU cars pull up, Jack, Doyle and the downed field agents wake up unharmed. So do the "slain" gunmen. Jack radios Buchanan that their cover team has Fayed. "Do you think he bought it?" Buchanan asks. As they drive off in a follow car, Jack notes that Doyle is bleeding on his neck. "Mike, do you need medical assistance?" Nadia radios. He thanks her for her concern, but he is fine. Milo looks over to Nadia quizzically. 10:21 P.M. Chloe patches in video from the cover truck to Jack. The pretend terrorists explain to Fayed that General Habib sent them. They say that Habib found him through his government spies. Fayed asks for a gun. The men hesitate, but then give him one. Fayed checks to see if it has ammunition, then he demands to speak to Habib. He refuses to give his hideout to the gunmen until he does. 10:22 P.M. Buchanan tells Jack that he doesn't know if they can make Habib happen, but he will call the White House. Clock ticks. 10:27 P.M. Buchanan tells Wayne and Lennox about the fake rescue. Jack believes Fayed won't lead them to the nukes until he speaks to Habib. Wayne says he will pressure the ambassador to make the call to his countrymen interrogating Habib. 10:28 P.M. Lennox questions whether they should try other means to get Fayed to talk. "If Jack Bauer says that's a dead end, then it's a dead end and I believe him," Wayne says emphatically. Wayne appears woozy and stumbles. Lennox helps him, but Wayne assures him that he is OK. 10:29 P.M. Wayne greets the ambassador in the bunker with a stern demeanor. They cannot get General Habib to talk, and Wayne suggests they shoot one of the man's sons in front of him. America needs Habib to call Fayed immediately. 10:31 P.M. Buchanan asks Nadia to translate the conversation between Habib and Fayed. She asks Milo to upload the link because he has a higher security clearance, but he blows her off. Milo can't understand why she suddenly is nice to Doyle -- the guy who just threatened her. They argue, but Milo gives in. 10:33 P.M. Fayed instructs the armored truck to pull into a garage. Jack and Doyle tail them. Fayed will not move further until Habib calls, and he questions why he's never heard of this terrorist cell before. Listening in, Doyle is nervous that their cover has been blown. 10:34 P.M. The cover team's cell phone rings. The agent gives Fayed the phone because Habib is calling. From a middle-eastern holding cell, a bloodied Habib tells Fayed that he failed to detonate any of the bombs. Habib orders him to get the other two nukes ready and he will give him a target soon. Fayed accepts this, and directs the cover team to his safe house. 10:36 P.M. Karen notices that Wayne is considerably weaker, but he tells her he's merely tired. Lennox notifies them that CTU is being led to the bombs. Wayne unexpectedly dismisses the ambassador from the White House. He gasps for air and begs Lennox to lock the door. "No one can know," he wheezes as he collapses to the floor. 10:37 P.M. Clock ticks. 10:42 P.M. Buchanan orders no raid of the safe house until Jack confirms the nuclear warheads are there. Nadia realizes that, in the conversation with Fayed, Habib referenced a former colleague named Sameer who has been dead for years. She thinks it might be a signal from Habib that he was speaking under duress. Buchanan alerts Jack. 10:43 P.M. Jack dials the agent in the armored truck and warns him that Fayed might know this is a setup. Suddenly, CTU loses video and audio from the truck. The truck had gone into a short tunnel and stopped in the middle. Jack has the TAC teams seal the other end. 10:44 P.M. Jack and Doyle head into the tunnel and stop where the truck is parked. The cover team has been hit and Fayed is gone. Jack sees a door in the tunnel that is opened. He goes in alone to a boiler room. 10:45 P.M. Jack spots Fayed, who has just killed a sanitation worker and has taken his cell phone to make a call. "I'm on my way to you now," Fayed tells the person on the line as he gets in the sanitation truck and pulls out. 10:46 P.M. Jack is clinging to the undercarriage of the truck, just inches from the asphalt that speeds past his head. He radios CTU but they can't hear him and lose the signal. Doyle reports that he found a dead sanitation worker but that Jack is missing. Chloe starts a satellite backtrace on the site from the past few minutes. 10:47 P.M. Clock ticks. 10:51 P.M. The White House doctor checks Wayne. His blood pressure has significantly dropped and the adrenaline shots have caused him damage. Wayne refuses to go to medical, demanding another injection of adrenaline. The doctor will not give it to him. Undaunted, Wayne gets up even though it is painful. He wants to go back to work, and asks for updates from CTU. 10:54 P.M. Fayed drives the sanitation truck to a warehouse, where he is met by Halil and the other men. He orders them to quickly load up the bombs in order to attack downtown Los Angeles. Jack slips out from the undercarriage and sneaks inside the warehouse. 10:55 P.M. After he spots the suitcase nukes, Jack starts firing and takes out some of the guards. He hides behind large boxes, shooting to get the men away from the nuclear weapons. 10:56 P.M. As both Jack and Fayed empty the rounds in their guns, Jack lunges at him and they engage in a fight. Jack manages to wrap Fayed's neck in a heavy chain dangling from a mechanical draw. "Say hello to your brother," Jack whispers as he turns the draw on. Fayed is hanged. Jack winces in pain as his ribs are injured once again. 10:58 P.M. Doyle and the field teams arrive at the warehouse. They tracked the sanitation trucks by satellite. Doyle radios CTU that the bombs are secured. Buchanan and the team heave a sigh of relief. 10:59 P.M. As Doyle starts to take Jack to medical, he gets a call on his cell phone and hands it to Jack. The woman's voice on the other end stops Jack in his tracks. It's Audrey Raines. Cheng Zhi grabs the phone from her. He instructs Jack to call back on a secure line if he ever wants to see Audrey alive. Clock ticks. 11:00 P.M. The military takes control of the bombs. 11:02 P.M. Jack grabs one of the terrorists' cell phones and calls Cheng back. Cheng says that Audrey went to Beijing to find Jack, despite the objections of her family and the government. He asks Jack for the trigger mechanism from the suitcase nukes because the Chinese want use it to access the Russian defense technology. Cheng is not concerned that the Russians will know the leak came from America. If Jack refuses, Cheng threatens to kill Audrey. Jack explains that the bombs are under military control. Cheng says simply, "You'll find a way." 11:05 P.M. Cheng puts Audrey on the phone with Jack, who assures her that he will save her. Cheng gives Jack one hour to complete the exchange. 11:06 P.M. Noting Wayne's visible weakened state, Lennox urges him to go to medical. Wayne refuses because this will only give Daniels another chance to go after his job. Lennox promises this won't happen, and he explains that he has a tape of Daniels and Lisa Miller conspiring to commit perjury. 11:07 P.M. Karen brings Wayne news that CTU has recovered the remaining suitcase nukes and that Fayed was killed. Wayne thinks they should make a press announcement as soon as possible, but he wants to do it outside of the bunker. There is no need to hide any longer. He's returning to the Oval Office. 11:08 P.M. While Buchanan briefs the entire CTU staff, Jack calls Chloe. He tells her that Audrey is still alive and that Cheng wants a nuke in exchange. Jack asks Chloe to get him the schematics for the bombs. 11:10 P.M. Chloe remembers that Morris filed a report for the Defense Department. She goes to his station and finds it. Chloe sends it on a secure line to the cell phone Jack is using. It downloads just before Morris returns to his desk. 11:11 P.M. Clock ticks. 11:15 P.M. Daniels comes to see Wayne in the Oval Office. Although Wayne disagreed with Daniels's idea to bomb the enemy, it allowed him to consider the bluff that did work. Yet Wayne orders him to quit his post because he cannot run the country with Daniels undermining him. Daniels refuses, but Wayne tells him that he could expose Lennox's tape recording. Wayne allows him a week to tender his resignation. 11:19 P.M. Morris sees that someone has hacked into his system. Chloe is surprised to learn that he set up a program to spot unauthorized access. 11:20 P.M. Chloe admits what she did for Jack and Morris is shocked. Jack gave her his word that he won't let the bomb trigger get to the Chinese, but Morris doesn't want to feel responsible for the bombs like when Fayed forced him to activate the trigger. He insists on telling Buchanan. Chloe says she will do it instead. 11:22 P.M. Chloe goes to Buchanan's office. "I'm sorry, there's something you need to know," she says. 11:23 P.M. Jack enters the safe house where the Marines are guarding the nuclear weapons. He claims he has a Presidential order to take the circuit board from the bombs because the area has been compromised. He threatens to turn them in. The soldiers allow him to enter. As the Marines stand guard, Jack removes the FB-sub-circuit board that matches the schematics Chloe uploaded to his phone. 11:24 P.M. Doyle orders Jack to stand down. Jack shouts back, and the two enter a standoff. Doyle tells one of the Marines that Jack is a rogue agent and needs to be taken out. The Marine smacks Jack with the butt end of his rifle. Jack passes out. Doyle places Jack under arrest. 11:25 P.M. Clock ticks. 11:29 P.M. Doyle calls Buchanan to let him know he has secured Jack. Buchanan tells Jack that Chloe confessed, but Jack says he would have never turned over the circuit board to the Chinese. He only wanted them to see it long enough to give up Audrey. Jack pleads with Buchanan, but Buchanan rejects the idea. Jack demands to speak to the President. 11:31 P.M. Wayne takes the call from Jack, who asks him to authorize a field operation to save Audrey. Jack explains what the Chinese want and he promises to destroy the circuit board once he sees Audrey is safe. Jack gives him his word that he would sacrifice his own life by using C-4 to bomb the circuit board. Wayne is hesitant, but Jack reminds him that he was willing to allow the U.S. to use his own life to barter with the terrorists. "Mr. President, you owe me," Jack says bluntly. Wayne reluctantly consents. "I will not fail you," Jack underscores. 11:34 P.M. Clock ticks. 11:38 P.M. Doyle gets the word from Buchanan and he uncuffs Jack, who asks him to help him extract Audrey during the exchange. Jack explains that once Audrey is safe, he will destroy the circuit board and kill Cheng. 11:39 P.M. Morris is surprised when Chloe lets him know the President agreed to let Jack pursue Audrey with the nuclear trigger circuit. She makes an unsubtle jibe about the President trusting Jack. Chloe is upset that Morris didn't trust her. She vows to hold this grudge over him. 11:40 P.M. Doyle calls Nadia and she confirms the tracking device on the circuit board is working. Jack calls Cheng and gets directions on where to meet. 11:42 P.M. Doyle questions Jack on why he is risking so much for "this woman". Jack says that Audrey served the country with honor. Daniels lets Lisa know he will comply with the President's request to resign. Lisa apologizes for trying to convince him to lie about Karen, but he says it's his own fault. Daniels touches her cheek. "At least we'll have a lot more time to spend together," he says warmly. Daniels wants his resignation letter in Wayne's hands by the end of the press conference. 11:44 P.M. Wayne announces to the gathered media that Fayed is dead and that the nukes have been recovered. He thanks law enforcement and the Armed Services. Wayne starts to struggle with his memory during the press questions and stammers. Suddenly, his knees buckle and he falls to the floor. Watching from the gallery, Daniels pockets his resignation letter. 11:47 P.M. Clock ticks. 11:52 P.M. The White House doctor reports to Karen, Lennox and Daniels that the President suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. Karen maintains that Wayne still would have agreed to be brought out of the coma even though it endangered his life. Wayne is being transported to a hospital. The doctor doesn't think he will regain consciousness soon. 11:54 P.M. Daniels has the Cabinet notified to enact the 25th Amendment. Lisa alerts the Vice President that Wayne authorized Jack Bauer to hand over Russian defense technology to the Chinese in exchange for release of a hostage. Karen explains that Jack guaranteed to destroy the military secrets. Despite the hostage being James Heller's daughter, Daniels orders Karen to have CTU immediately stop Jack. 11:55 P.M. Outside the Oval Office, Karen vocalizes her disdain for Daniels already ignoring Wayne's wishes. Lennox argues that they have no choice because Daniels is acting President. 11:56 P.M. Karen calls Buchanan and tells him that Daniels's first order was to stop Jack. Buchanan reluctantly agrees to halt the mission. 11:57 P.M. Buchanan has the California Highway Patrol put up roadblocks to prevent Jack from reaching his destination. He pulls Chloe off the job because she has shown she can't be trusted. 11:58 P.M. Buchanan calls Doyle and warns him that Daniels wants Jack brought back to CTU. He gives Doyle a location to exit the freeway where he will be met by roadblocks. Buchanan commands Doyle to disarm Jack. Doyle tells Jack that CTU provided a detour because of roadblocks. Jack quickly pulls his gun on Doyle's head. He warns him that he already killed a former partner and friend earlier in the day because he was going to thwart him. "Don't think for a second I won't do that to you," Jack says coldly. He orders Doyle to pull over. 11:59 P.M. Doyle stops the car, and Jack makes him stand against a chain link fence. Doyle tries to explain that acting-President Daniels called off the mission. "You can't go against the White House!" he exclaims, trying to talk some sense into him. Jack pulls away, leaving Doyle calling after him. Clock ticks. 12:00 A.M. Left alone on the highway, Doyle tries to flag down oncoming cars. One finally stops. He orders the driver out and steals the car. 12:01 A.M. Doyle uses the man's cell phone to call CTU. He says he screwed up and lost Jack. With the tracker on the component board, Morris gives him Jack's location. Doyle promises to catch Jack before he disengages the tracking device. 12:02 A.M. Buchanan announces to the staff that Jack has gone rogue. He asks Chloe if she can be trusted to work on the task, and she answers affirmatively. 12:03 A.M. Jack pulls up underneath a set of power lines. He removes the tracker from the circuit board and drives off. 12:04 A.M. Morris loses signal on the tracking device. He sees on the satellite that Jack has been driving alongside the power lines. He goes to notify Buchanan. 12:05 A.M. Milo asks Chloe if she thinks that Jack would give up Audrey's life rather than turn over the circuit board to the Chinese. She has no answer. 12:06 A.M. White House Press Secretary Ellen Price briefs the reporters about Wayne being taken to the hospital. She informs them that Vice President Daniels will be addressing the nation at 9:00 a.m. eastern time. 12:07 A.M. Daniels questions Lennox over his plans to use the incriminating tapes. Lennox says it wasn't his idea to force Daniels to resign. He only wanted to protect himself and prevent Daniels from challenging Wayne. Daniels feels relieved that he has Lennox's support. Lennox gives his word that he won't use the evidence over him. 12:08 A.M. Daniels asks Lennox if he thinks Karen will be a detriment to their plans. Lennox notes that she is smart and provides balance. Daniels agrees to let her stay. 12:09 A.M. Jack calls Cheng, telling him that CTU is now looking for him. Since he knows CTU's satellites, Jack chooses the location for the trade. Cheng reluctantly agrees to meet Jack in a condemned hotel. 12:10 A.M. Clock ticks. 12:14 A.M. Despite Karen's appeal for CTU's authority, Daniels charges Lennox to put all ancillary agencies in pursuit of Jack. 12:15 A.M. With everyone cleared from the Oval Office, Daniels confesses to his aide Lisa that, with all that is going on, he can't stop thinking about her. They kiss. She goes home to pick up a change of clothes so that she can spend the night with him. 12:16 A.M. Doyle pulls up near the power lines and sees fresh tire tracks. He can tell Jack is headed east. Nadia checks which freeways are in that direction, but Doyle is sure that Jack would take the one without Caltrans cameras. He asks Nadia to see if there's any transmission between one of the terrorists' stolen cell phones and Cheng. 12:17 A.M. Nadia has Chloe pull anything from that area's cell towers in the last few minutes. Chloe sends it to Morris, who's annoyed that she had the information take over his screen without a warning. He accuses her of being hostile, and they argue about who is to blame. Milo intercedes with their fight, and Chloe asks for his help instead of Morris's. 12:18 A.M. Morris becomes jealous and he and Chloe bicker. While trading barbs, she makes a crack about him arming the nuclear bomb for the terrorists. Chloe realizes her gaffe and quickly apologizes. Yet this hits Morris hard, and he walks away from her. 12:19 A.M. Karen is warned that Peter Hock from the Department of Justice is waiting in her office. Lennox cautions her to tread lightly because Hock has clout on Capitol Hill. 12:20 A.M. Karen goes to her office and greets Hock. He has been interrogating Reed Pollock, who claims that Buchanan held Fayed in custody but then let him go. Reed says in the video deposition that Karen covered this up with a "blue code" at Homeland Security to protect her husband. 12:21 A.M. Karen explains to Hock that Fayed was apprehended in a border sweep two years ago but that there was not enough evidence to keep him. Besides, Fayed was not considered a high-level threat at the time. It is standard practice to "blue code" these released people so that they do not have their freedoms stripped. The only reason Karen resigned from the White House twelve hours ago instead of having this come out is because she didn't want the information to be used against the President or her husband while the country was under attack. 12:22 A.M. Hock insists that someone will have to be blamed for the terrorist attacks. He suggests that Buchanan take the fall because he is farther down the food chain from the President. Yet Karen knows it will either be her head or Buchanan's on the chopping block. 12:23 A.M. Clock ticks. 12:28 A.M. Jack arrives at the abandoned Calderone Hotel. 12:29 A.M. After CTU finds Jack's call to Cheng, Nadia tells Doyle. Jack was traveling on the road that he suspected. Nadia will keep decrypting the call to find out where he is meeting Cheng. 12:30 A.M. Buchanan gets a call from Karen, who seems troubled. He says they are closing in on finding Jack and can't talk. She asks him to call back when he's free. 12:31 A.M. Karen goes to see Lennox, rationalizing that Reed is using anything he can to bargain his way out of the death penalty for treason. Hock wants to distance the President, and needs either Karen or Buchanan to be blamed. Lennox says that Buchanan is already in the crosshairs and will ultimately be responsible because his signature is on the Fayed release. Karen considers resigning again, but Lennox advises her to not risk her own job since she can't save Buchanan. 12:33 A.M. Jack plants C-4 plastique in the walls of the empty hotel. Then he calls Buchanan's personal voice mail and leaves a message, explaining that the circuit board will be incinerated in the explosion at the Calderone Hotel. Jack wants Buchanan to take care of Audrey if he doesn't make it out alive. 12:34 A.M. Clock ticks. 12:39 A.M. Morris asks Buchanan to be transferred out of the comm unit because he and Chloe are having problems. Buchanan agrees to work something out. 12:40 A.M. Karen calls Buchanan again and tells him that the Justice Department is "out for blood" about Fayed's original release even though it was all by-the-book. "I can't let this touch me," she explains about protecting the Administration. Her only option is to immediately fire Buchanan. Buchanan is furious because he didn't do anything wrong. He hangs up on her. Karen tries calling back, but Buchanan doesn't pick up. 12:42 A.M. Doyle checks surface streets for Jack. Suddenly, he sees Jack's truck parked near an abandoned building. 12:43 A.M. Buchanan summons Nadia to the conference room and informs her that he was fired from CTU. She will be taking over. 12:44 A.M. Buchanan won't explain the circumstances of his departure to Nadia. "It's just politics," he sighs. Security comes in to escort Buchanan from the premises. 12:46 A.M. Nadia announces to the staff that Buchanan has stepped down. Until Division can send a replacement, she will be acting director of CTU. 12:47 A.M. Clock ticks. 12:51 A.M. Doyle takes weapons and ammo from Jack's truck. He radios CTU that a limousine has just pulled up and that they should send support. 12:52 A.M. Doyle sees Cheng emerge from the limo. 12:53 A.M. Cheng walks in, demanding the component. Jack refuses until he can see Audrey. Cheng has his men bring her in. Doyle relays all of this to CTU. 12:54 A.M. Audrey's mouth is gagged. Jack removes it, tenderly touching her face for the first time in almost two years. He apologizes to her. Jack instructs Cheng to have Audrey walk out alone, away from the Chinese snipers. Once he knows she is safe, he will hand over the weapon's circuit board. 12:55 A.M. Outside the hotel, Doyle sees almost a dozen gunmen surround the building. He again questions Nadia about the field teams. Jack tells Audrey to go to a gas station nearby. There will be a taxi picking her up to take her back to CTU. 12:56 A.M. Audrey leaves the building alone as the Chinese gunmen train their weapons on her. Doyle becomes impatient. Nadia tells him the field teams should be there any minute, but he needs to do something fast because Jack is about to hand over the circuit board. Jack gives Cheng the component. As he is about to detonate the C-4 plastique, shots ring outside. Doyle has taken out one of the men. Jack goes to return fire, but is hit in the chest over his flak jacket. Suddenly, the CTU chopper and SWAT teams arrive and engage in a firestorm with the Chinese. Cheng bolts from the hotel to one of his armored cars and speeds off into the night accompanied by two exact vehicles. The helicopter follows the three fleeing cars until it is hit by a missile. It spins out of control. 12:57 A.M. Cheng gets away. The other two Hummers go in separate directions as a diversion. 12:58 A.M. CTU agents apprehend Jack, who tells Doyle that he was all set to detonate the circuit board. Cheng escaped with the component. Nadia radios Doyle that Cheng was spotted in one of three black Hummers that fled into the mountains. More choppers are on their way. Nadia orders Doyle to place Jack under arrest. 12:59 A.M. Doyle reluctantly puts Jack in handcuffs. "I had this handled! Why the hell didn't you listen to me?" Jack pleads. Audrey is brought back to the hotel. She is mumbling the same phrase over and over: "Help me, Jack. Please don't let them do this to me." Jack realizes that she doesn't even recognize him. The Chinese have done something to her, and Jack insists that Doyle help her. Clock ticks. 1:00 A.M. Doyle tries to get information from Audrey, but she is withdrawn. She recites the same phrase again. 1:01 A.M. Nadia starts to feel the pressure of her new job. She tells Morris that she's not approving his transfer out of comm even though Buchanan agreed to consider it. 1:03 A.M. Doyle lets Nadia know that Audrey is suffering from some kind of post-traumatic reaction after the Chinese captured her. Nadia orders him to bring Audrey back to CTU. Doyle blames himself for foiling Jack's plan and losing the Russian circuit board. 1:05 A.M. As they head out, Jack pleads with Doyle to let him make an attempt to get through to Audrey since he was recently in the same position. Instead, Doyle follows orders and puts Jack in a waiting helicopter to head back to CTU. 1:06 A.M. Karen urges Daniels to sign an executive order that will block borders to prevent Cheng from leaving the country with the component. They want to avoid Russia blaming the United States for losing its defense against the Chinese. Daniels confesses to Karen that he values her and appreciates the sacrifice she had to make in firing her husband. 1:07 A.M. The Russian president calls for Daniels. 1:08 A.M. Lisa Miller slips into the apartment of her lover, Mark Bishop. She tells him that Wayne is still in a coma and that Daniels is acting president. "Only thing he cares about is pushing his lunatic foreign agenda," she interjects between kisses. With little time before she has to head back to the office, the two make love. 1:09 A.M. Russian President Suvarov speaks to the White House team via teleconference. He already knows that the nuclear weapon circuit boards have fallen into the hands of the Chinese, which will expose Russian defense technology. Suvarov warns Daniels that he is prepared to initiate a military response if the Americans do not retrieve the component. 1:10 A.M. Since the secret about the stolen circuit board was only exposed to a few select people, Lennox believes there to be a leak in either the White House or CTU. The Russian threat is suddenly very real, so Daniels authorizes CTU to utilize whatever is necessary to find Cheng. 1:11 A.M. From his car, Cheng uploads the schematics of the component to one of his operatives, who sees that the circuit board is damaged. He cannot fix it without the security override. The will need to find someone with expertise to assist them. 11:12 A.M. Clock ticks. 1:17 A.M. When Lisa goes into the shower, Bishop takes her PDA and downloads all of her data onto a drive. He calls his Russian contact Nikolai and tells him they are set. Bishop confirms that Lisa has no idea what he is doing. 1:18 A.M. Chloe corners Morris, who admits that he asked for a transfer because he is uncomfortable working with her. She crossed the line when she made a joke about his arming the nuclear bomb. Morris tells her that they are over for good. Chloe breaks down in sobs. 1:20 A.M. Karen alerts Nadia about a potential leak in CTU. Nadia pointedly asks if Karen fired Buchanan. Karen does not answer her. 1:21 A.M. Nadia greets Dr. Bradley, a specialist brought in to deal with Audrey. She orders Doyle to secure Jack and meet her in medical. Dr. Bradley checks on Audrey, who is unresponsive. He finds numerous injection track marks on her arm. 1:22 A.M. As they enter CTU, Jack begs Doyle to let him speak to Audrey. Yet Doyle places him in a holding cell. 1:23 A.M. Doyle goes into medical. Dr. Bradley believes that Audrey's catatonic state stems from the hundreds of pharmacological agents injected into her. The doctor wants to shock her with more drugs to wake her up. Doyle rejects this idea, advising them to instead utilize Jack's relationship with Audrey and his exposure to the Chinese torture. Bradley thinks Jack could only harm Audrey. He also has the jurisdiction to overrule Doyle. 1:24 A.M. Doyle urges Nadia to do what is right, because that's what Buchanan would have done. Nadia is offended by the remark, and Doyle notes that an acting director can't be afraid to step on toes. Nadia disregards his opinion. 1:25 A.M. Clock ticks. 1:30 A.M. Daniels calls Lisa's cell and implores her to return to the White House because there's been a crisis. "I need you," he says softly. Bishop asks Lisa about what's going on, but she doesn't know. After she leaves, Bishop calls Nikolai for further instructions. 1:31 A.M. Lennox tells Daniels that he has identified the leak. There is a record of Lisa speaking to a lobbyist named Mark Bishop during the time they found out the circuit board went missing. Bishop had been flagged by CIA for having possible contact with Russian intelligence agents. Daniels is shocked, but Lennox doesn't think Lisa was willingly giving out information. 1:32 A.M. Lennox goes on to explain that he has found credit card receipts showing that Lisa and Bishop have stayed in the same hotel room several times over the last year. They were having a secret relationship. Daniels confesses that he is also sleeping with Lisa. He started the affair after his wife died. Daniels is shaken, but Lennox is confident that they can turn the situation to their advantage. 1:34 A.M. Doyle comes to Jack's holding cell and lets him know that the doctor tending to Audrey wants to drug her, which could be harmful. Doyle suggests that Jack do something about it and he uncuffs him. Jack gets the hint and gently makes Doyle unconscious. He takes Doyle's keycard and escapes from the holding cell. Jack punches out the guard on duty and takes the man's gun. 1:35 A.M. Jack enters medical and threatens Dr. Bradley to stop whatever drug treatment he plans to use on Audrey. Jack takes Audrey from the bed. Bradley sounds the alarm. 1:36 A.M. Nadia and Milo look up video feed from medical and see that Audrey is gone. "If you just let Jack talk to Audrey, none of this would have happened," Milo comments. This stings Nadia. 1:37 A.M. Clock ticks. 1:41 A.M. Morris confirms that Jack has not yet left the building. He scans the various video surveillance feeds. Nadia realizes that Chloe is gone. 1:42 A.M. When Doyle wakes up, Nadia accuses him of allowing Jack to escape on purpose. "I did what I think is best for this operation and for Audrey Raines," he says sharply. Morris finds Jack in the lower levels, and Nadia heads to that area. 1:43 A.M. Jack uses Doyle's keycard to access corridors, and he brings Audrey into a storage room where the alarm is muted and there are no cameras. Jack softly tells Audrey that he will protect her. He appeals to her memory, reminding her of her life facts. 1:44 A.M. Nadia goes to the door of the storage room with guards but Jack has disabled the access pad. She asks for an entry team. 1:45 A.M. Jack asks Audrey if she can remember about the men who took her. He says he knows what it feels like to be tortured. Jack hugs her and tells her that he loves her. 1:46 A.M. Nadia has her guards weld through the storage room door with an acetylene torch. As the flames make progress on the door from the inside, Jack begs Audrey for something because the agents will soon take her away. 1:47 A.M. Jack trains his gun when Nadia and the agents enter. He demands a guarantee that Audrey will be safe. Suddenly, Audrey mumbles the word "Bloomfield." Jack explains that she's answering where she was held. Dr. Bradley tells Nadia that the word could mean nothing. 1:48 A.M. Nadia radios Morris to search the name. She also tells Bradley to keep his hands off her witness, and she dismisses him. Nadia promises Jack that she won't let the doctor touch Audrey. Jack lowers his gun and allows Doyle take her. He thanks Nadia. Clock ticks. 1:52 A.M. Lennox confirms that Suvarov was not bluffing. The Russian Army is moving troops into Central Asia. 1:53 A.M. Lisa returns to the White House. Daniels tells her that someone named Mark Bishop told the Russians that the Chinese have their component. They have been monitoring Bishop's calls, and he plays back a tape from ten minutes ago where Bishop says he will access "her" PDA. 1:54 A.M. Lisa at first says that Bishop is merely an acquaintance, but Daniels accuses her of treason even if she didn't know what was happening. "You didn't just betray me, you betrayed your country," he growls. Daniels orders her to go back to Bishop and make him believe that the U.S. has retrieved the component. He warns her that if she tries to expose their affair, then he will label her as an enemy combatant. 1:56 A.M. James Heller is in CTU's medical to see his daughter. He tells Audrey that he is taking her out of there, but she remains impassive. 1:57 A.M. Heller stipulates to Nadia that he wants to see Jack before he transports Audrey out of CTU. Doyle informs Nadia that Audrey's word might have some meaning. There is a Bloomfield Copper Company that used to have a facility in Los Angeles. Forensics found copper particles on her clothes, so this may be where Cheng was hiding her. LAPD is locking down the building but Doyle is heading there now. 1:58 A.M. Nadia admits to Doyle that he was right. She should have stood up to Dr. Bradley. "You did, when it counted," he assures her. 1:59 A.M. Heller enters Jack's holding cell. "I don't want you to go near my daughter ever again," he says bluntly. Heller blames Jack for what happened to Audrey. Jack swears that he can help her and get through to her again, but Heller doesn't want him to have any part in her life. "You're cursed, Jack," Heller says, "Everything you touch, one way or another, ends up dead." Clock ticks. 2:00 A.M. Heller leaves with Audrey, planning to file a restraining order against Jack. Even though he is under arrest, Jack begs Nadia to let him go with the field agents when they raid the Bloomfield facility because he knows how Cheng works. "I gave President Palmer my word that I would destroy that component before I let it fall into enemy hands," he says. "Give me a chance to keep my word." Nadia refuses him. 2:03 A.M. Jack eyes the two guards manning his room. Nadia warns him that she will have him put in restraints if he tries to escape. Resigned to his fate, Jack offers to help run tactical from CTU. Nadia promises to take it up with the new division chief who will be replacing her. 2:05 A.M. Milo notices that Chloe's eyes are red from crying. Morris announces that they have split up, but they are still being professional. 2:06 A.M. Doyle prepares his tac team to move out to the Bloomfield facility. Nadia gives them marching orders and stresses the severity of their mission. 2:07 A.M. Doyle is impressed with Nadia's command of the moment, and tells her that she is doing a good job. When she advises him to be careful, they trade a prolonged look. This is not lost on Milo, who watches from the main floor. Nadia avoids making eye contact with Milo. 2:08 A.M. Cheng assembles an outside team that resembles a Chinese street gang. His operative questions whether the men can handle the job, but Cheng needs to maintain deniability by using outside forces. Cheng tells Zhou, the leader of the gang, that he wants to attack the "target" in fifteen minutes. 2:09 A.M. Clock ticks. 2:13 A.M. In a CTU lounge area, Marilyn and Josh watch news footage. He is upset that his father was involved in killing twelve thousand people. Josh wishes he was never born into this "sick family". Marilyn assures him that he is not Graem. She shuts the television and urges him to get some sleep. 2:15 A.M. Chloe comes to see Marilyn and tells her about what happened with Jack and Audrey. 2:16 A.M. As Daniels and Lennox listen in, Lisa Miller calls Bishop and tells him that the crisis with the Russians was averted. She suggests coming over so that they can pick up where they left off. 2:17 A.M. Lennox instructs her to give Bishop time to access her PDA. They have uploaded fake memos stating that a Chinese agent who tried to smuggle Russian weapons was taken out with a military strike. They want Bishop to relay the news to his Russian contact so that President Suvarov will call off his attack. Lisa isn't sure she can be with Bishop pretending nothing's wrong. Daniels notes that she spent the last year lying to him with no problem. 2:18 A.M. Marilyn apologizes to Jack for telling him that Audrey was dead. When she inquires more, Jack becomes upset and doesn't want to talk about it anymore. Marilyn asks if she can bring Josh to see him before they leave CTU. She promises to be there for Jack when it's all over. Jack asks Chloe about the mission to obtain the component. She guarantees that they'll get it back. 2:19 A.M. Zhou questions that there is only one entry point for their target. Cheng confirms that this will allow them to be in the perfect position for a strike. He says their objective is to "obtain the package" and not to cause casualties. 2:20 A.M. Doyle and his team arrive at the Bloomfield plant and get into position. They quickly raid the premises, but there's no one there. They come upon a pile of empty crates that held armaments. 2:21 A.M. Zhou and his men start filing into an underground sewer drain to access their target. 2:22 A.M. Doyle calls Nadia and tells her that the place is empty. Yet there is evidence that the Chinese have weaponry for a major assault. "Assault on what?" Nadia asks. 2:23 A.M. Zhou and his men make their way through the sewers. Cheng gives him directions to the entrance point beneath CTU. Clock ticks. 2:28 A.M. Morris asks Chloe a work-related question and she is mean to him. She apologizes because she's having a hard time with their breakup even though he is trying to be professional. She emphasizes that she doesn't believe he acted cowardly. Morris didn't end their relationship because of what she said. He was ashamed of arming that bomb. 2:30 A.M. Outside Bishop's apartment, Lisa confesses that she is frightened. Lennox reminds her that if she fails, she will face charges of treason. She takes a bag with a surveillance camera and heads in. 2:32 A.M. Lennox gives Daniels notice that Lisa has gone into Bishop's place. Daniels is worried that Lisa won't be able to pull it off. 2:33 A.M. Lisa is uncomfortable when she kisses Bishop at his door. She claims that she's tense because of everything that's happened at the White House. Lisa lets her purse flop open so that the camera inside can get a view. 2:34 A.M. Lisa tries to go into the bathroom to freshen up, but Bishop mentions that she recently showered at his apartment. She attempts to leave the room again, and Bishop doesn't let her go. He begins undressing her and tosses her onto the bed. They make love while the camera watches. 2:35 A.M. Clock ticks. 2:39 A.M. Zhou and his team get to the sewer underneath CTU. He sets off charges, which allows Cheng's operative to access the CTU security system. 2:40 A.M. Nadia tells Milo that she knows he was unhappy when she was talking to Doyle. He tells her it's alright if there's something going on between them. Nadia admits that she doesn't know what she feels and asks for time to sort it out. 2:41 A.M. After back-tracking the satellite, Chloe spots Cheng's men escaping in cars. Suddenly, Nadia can't get through to Doyle on the radio and Milo cannot access any outside lines. They don't know that Cheng has overridden their system. 2:42 A.M. Zhou and his men set an explosion in the sewer. They begin climbing up. Everyone at CTU realizes their communication is shut down. Security cameras have lost visual surveillance. Nadia calls for a Code Red emergency lockdown. 2:43 A.M. Zhou's men reach the building. They take out the CTU security guards and descend upon the main floor. Nadia instructs her workers to run to their assigned safe rooms. Jack hears gunfire from his holding cell and begs the guard on duty to let him. The guard opens the door, but one of the gunmen shoots him. Jack grabs the guard's gun and kills the gunman. 2:44 A.M. Zhou orders the CTU hostages to give him their cell phones. He has one of his men run a headcount, filter all communication coming in and shut off the building alarm. In the basement, Jack takes out more gunmen. He grabs one of the assault rifles from the bodies and makes his way upstairs. 2:45 A.M. Zhou asks who is in charge. Before Nadia can say anything, Milo identifies himself as the person in command. Zhou shoots him in the forehead. Milo collapses, dead. Clock ticks. 2:50 A.M. Jack sneaks up to the gangway and witnesses the mayhem on the floor. Marilyn hears the commotion, but two Chinese gunmen capture her and Josh. The men radio Zhou that they have found Josh. Jack appears and shoots the two men. He is shocked when Marilyn tells him that they were looking for Josh. 2:51 A.M. Jack leads them through the building to the ventilation room. He jams his gun into the fan to make it stop spinning. Jack has Josh climb into the air duct. He promises that they will follow. 2:52 A.M. More gunmen enter the ventilation room, capturing Jack and Marilyn. One radios Zhou that the boy escaped. They take Jack and Marilyn down to the main floor. 2:53 A.M. Josh makes his way into the depths of the air vent tunnels. Zhou has the ventilation system cut. Cheng demands that they find Josh. 2:54 A.M. After Doyle makes several attempts to call CTU, one of Zhou's men suggests they respond to deflect attention. Zhou checks the roster and sees that Nadia is really the ranking officer. He has her speak to Doyle and tell him they've had problems with their communication system. Zhou threatens to kill her and everyone there if she gives Doyle any warning. Nadia doesn't say anything out of the ordinary, but Doyle hears the tension in her voice. She hangs up. 2:55 A.M. Jack is brought to the floor with Marilyn. He demands to know what they want with Josh. Zhou slugs him in the gut with his rifle. 2:56 A.M. Zhou talks to Josh over the PA system. He says they only want to take him to a safe place. Marilyn tries to scream. Zhou warns Josh that if he doesn't show himself, they will kill his mother. 2:57 A.M. Zhou counts to ten. Josh quickly backtracks in the air duct. He reaches one of the gunmen before Zhou shoots Marilyn. Zhou lets Cheng know that they have the boy. 2:58 A.M. Josh is brought to the main floor. 2:59 A.M. Cheng calls Phillip Bauer to tell him that his men have secured Josh. Jack and Marilyn are also alive. Cheng thanks him for the codes to access the CTU security system. Phillip is almost done repairing the circuit board for the nuclear trigger. "I'll return it when you bring me my grandson," Phillip says. They agree to meet at a rendezvous point. Clock ticks, 3:00 A.M. As Zhou sends Josh to Cheng, Marilyn becomes hysterical. Zhou is about to shoot her, but Jack tries calming her down. Zhou orders him to keep Marilyn quiet. He announces to the hostages that they are being put in a secure room. 3:02 A.M. Josh is dragged back down the tunnel of sewers that the gunmen emerged from. 3:03 A.M. Zhou breaks the hostages up into two groups. Jack tells Marilyn that he will attempt to go after Josh, and he needs her to get in the front of her group. She does what he asks. 3:04 A.M. Jack whispers to Nadia that they will need to make a move before everyone is locked up in holding or else they will never retrieve the component. They both stay at the rear of the group and take out the two guards at the back. Morris, who is nearby, grabs another guy. Jack breaks Zhou's neck. 3:05 A.M. Suddenly, Doyle appears. He and his tac team save Jack and secure the CTU hostages. 3:06 A.M. Jack tells Doyle that he doesn't know why Cheng is after his nephew. He asks for a communication setup, but Nadia notes that is still technically under arrest. Jack explains that he knows this building better than anyone. She allows his release, but has him follow Doyle's command. 3:07 A.M. Nadia regretfully tells Doyle that Milo was killed. He asks how she's doing, but Jack interrupts them. Nadia gives him her cell phone since their comm is down. Jack commends her for what she's done. A shaken Chloe tells Nadia that what she did was brave. 3:08 A.M. Jack, Doyle and the tac team head into the sewer after the gunmen and Josh. Clock ticks. 3:13 A.M. The gunmen arrive in the warehouse. Josh is handed off to Cheng, who calls Phillip and hands the phone to Josh. Josh reminds his grandfather that he threatened to kill him a few hours ago. Phillip swears he would never hurt him. He intends to take him to China to protect him. He wants to give Josh a future in a country that will surpass America. 3:14 A.M. Josh pleads with Cheng not to deliver him to Phillip. "Your grandfather is a visionary," Cheng assures him. "You should be grateful for the opportunity." Cheng loads Josh into a car and they start to drive off. 3:15 A.M. As the car pulls away, Jack emerges from the hole and fires at Cheng's vehicles. Doyle and the tac team also shoot at the Chinese gunmen who have emptied from the cars. Cheng grabs Josh like a shield and runs. Jack warns his men to cover him as he goes after them. 3:16 A.M. Jack continues to chase Cheng, who is flanked by one of his men and pulling Josh. Jack radios to Doyle that they are headed to the roof of the building. Josh kicks Cheng and manages to break free from his grasp. When Jack takes out the guard, Cheng's attention is diverted and he loses Josh in the darkness. 3:18 A.M. Jack traps Cheng at gunpoint. Suddenly, Josh falls and calls out for help as he hangs by a wire over the edge. Jack looks down and Cheng escapes. With Cheng gone, Jack goes to save Josh. He pulls the boy up to safety. 3:19 A.M. Josh tells Jack that he spoke to Phillip who wanted to take him to China because he was his legacy. Jack promises to take him back to his mother. 3:20 A.M. When Doyle arrives on the roof, Jack has him warn CTU that his father is still involved in the situation. Doyle wonders what Phillip's connection is to the Chinese. "I'll ask him when I find him," Jack says confidently. Clock ticks. 3:25 A.M. Karen alerts the Vice President that the Russians have moved their troops within striking distance of American bases in Central Asia. Daniels reluctantly tells her about Lennox attempting to trap Bishop, who was getting information from an unwitting Lisa. Since Karen feels like she was purposefully left out of the loop, Daniels admits that he was ashamed to tell her that he was also sleeping with Lisa too. Karen tries to assuage him, but Daniels is worried that his lapse in judgment could bring the country to war. 3:28 A.M. From the surveillance van, Lennox and the Secret Service agents uncomfortably watch the video feed of Lisa making love to Bishop. 3:29 A.M. When they're finished, Bishop asks Lisa why she is distant. She claims to be tired, and she goes into the bathroom. 3:30 A.M. Lennox and the agents see Bishop go to Lisa's purse and take out her PDA. Yet Bishop doesn't download the information. 3:31 A.M. Bishop forcefully demands to know from Lisa what is going on. She smashes a bottle of wine over his head and accuses him of spying on her to the Russians. Lennox and the agents quickly exit the van. Bishop smacks Lisa. 3:33 A.M. Bishop grabs Lisa by the throat and she falls unconscious. Lennox and the agents break down the door and take him off her. Lennox explains that they have evidence of him spying for the Russians. He orders Bishop to upload the phony emails from Lisa's PDA and call his employer to back up the story. If he doesn't comply, Lennox assures him he will get the death penalty. 3:34 A.M. Cheng lets Phillip know that he lost Josh. Phillip is angry, and says that he will not give Cheng the repaired circuit board. Cheng threatens him, but Phillip is not afraid and will enact even worse consequences if he is threatened again. 3:35 A.M. Clock ticks. 3:39 A.M. Amidst the chaos of trying to get CTU back in order, a team from Division arrives to assess the security breach. The group leader, Ben Kram, informs Nadia that it is her poor leadership that cost the lives of CTU staff. She quietly succumbs to his requests. 3:41 A.M. Morris approaches Nadia, telling her not to let the Division people get to her because she wasn't responsible for what happened. She feels guilty and is willing to take the blame. Nadia knows that she hesitated when Milo stepped up to identify himself as the head of CTU. She was just afraid. Morris says that Milo would have wanted her to stay strong and in charge. 3:43 A.M. Lennox alerts Daniels that the planted memo has been sent to Bishop's Russian contact. Lennox advises the Vice President to call President Suvarov to confirm that fake information. He also says that Lisa suffered some brain damage when Bishop choked her. 3:44 A.M. Despite Daniels's feelings for Lisa, Karen makes the Vice President focus on the urgent matter at hand. She goes to set up a teleconference with the Russian president. 3:45 A.M. There's no sign of Cheng on satellite. He has escaped. Jack calls Marilyn to let her know that Phillip wanted to take Josh. He is bringing her son back to CTU. 3:46 A.M. On teleconference, Daniels proudly informs Suvarov that they weresuccessful in taking out the Chinese agents and that the component was destroyed. Suvarov knows that the documentation sent to one of his spies was falsified because his people were watching Bishop's apartment and saw the raid. Suvarov threatens to attack an American military base if they do not come up with proof that the component is destroyed. He gives Daniels two hours. "It was all for nothing," Daniels whispers to Karen. "We're about to go to war over a piece of circuitry." 3:50 A.M. Clock ticks. 3:54 A.M. Lennox returns to the White House and is about to enter an urgent military briefing when he receives a cell phone call. Lennox interrupts the meeting and pulls Daniels and Karen aside. He hands the phone to Daniels because Phillip Bauer is calling. 3:55 A.M. Phillip demands his grandson and clear passage to the country of his choice in return for the circuit board. He notes that the Chinese squandered their chance with him. Phillip provides the serial number as proof that he has it. "I'm offering you the opportunity of avoiding a conflict this country does not want," he says. 3:56 A.M. Karen questions why the Vice President would negotiate with a sociopath who is wanted for selling nuclear weapons to terrorists. Lennox agrees, but realizes they have no other choice but to take the risk. 3:57 A.M. Lennox wonders if Suvarov is being squeezed by his military to engage in warfare. There are many anti-American generals left over from the Soviet regime who just want a reason to pull the trigger. The need to retrieve the circuit board has become even more pressing. Daniels asks to be put through to CTU. 3:59 A.M. As they are about to get into a car to go back to CTU, Josh asks Jack what he will do to Phillip when he finds him. "I promise you he will never threaten you or your mother again," Jack says. Suddenly, Doyle grabs Josh and takes him onto a waiting helicopter as agents detain Jack. Doyle explains to Jack that he has orders. Jack is being held down as Josh calls out for him. The helicopter flies off with Doyle and Josh inside. Clock ticks. 4:00 A.M. As the helicopter heads west, Josh expresses confusion about why he's not being taken to CTU. Doyle says that he will be given to his grandfather in order to prevent a war. Doyle injects Josh's wrist with a tracking device and promises to save him. 4:01 A.M. Jack pleads with the agents detaining him that it is wrong to give Josh to Phillip. However, their orders are to bring him to a detention facility. 4:02 A.M. Jack calls Chloe, who explains that Phillip made a deal with Daniels to exchange the Russian sub-circuit board for Josh and safe passage out of the country. Doyle intends to rescue Josh once the trade is over. Jack knows that Phillip has no intention of giving up the component or Josh. 4:04 A.M. Daniels begs President Suvarov for forgiveness and asks him to rescind the military that is ready to attack. Daniels informs him that he is making a trade with the man who has the circuit board. 4:05 A.M. Karen excuses herself from the Oval Office when her cell phone rings. It's Jack. 4:06 A.M. Jack tries to convince Karen not to bargain with Josh. He believes Phillip will not give up the circuit board because it's his only leverage against the Chinese. Although Karen agrees with him, the Vice President feels it is the only way to avoid war. Jack cannot do anything because he is in CTU custody. He demands that Karen do whatever is necessary to stop the trade. 4:07 A.M. Karen tells Lennox that Jack is convinced Phillip will find a way to prevent the U.S. from retrieving the circuit board. She asks Lennox to circumvent Daniels, but Lennox is wary of doing so because he already distrusts him. Lennox agrees to look the other way if she goes behind the Vice President's back. 4:09 A.M. Buchanan is at home when his cell phone rings. He sees that it's Karen and doesn't pick up. FBI agents are going through his personal belongings under order of a subpoena. The home phone rings and Buchanan hears Karen appealing to him for help. He picks up, and Karen details Jack's dilemma. Karen asks Buchanan to do whatever it takes to stop the exchange for Josh. 4:10 A.M. The CTU staff watches on satellite as their chopper lands at the beach. Doyle unloads Josh and they wait under a light post. 4:11 A.M. Doyle's phone rings, and Morris patches into the cell so that they can listen. Phillip instructs Doyle to have CTU shut down their satellite feed because he is inside their system. Morris confirms this is true, but he doesn't know how. He closes the satellite feed. Fortunately, Phillip cannot see the tracking system implanted on Josh. 4:13 A.M. Phillip sees the satellite go off, and he orders Doyle to dismiss the helicopter. Doyle puts Josh on the phone. Josh tells his grandfather that he hates him. Phillip exhorts that he will not be safe in America because of Graem's involvement in the terrorist plot. He says he is the only one capable of making Josh the kind of man his father should have been. 4:14 A.M. Phillip hangs up and has men go pick up Josh. 4:15 A.M. Clock ticks. 4:19 A.M. Nadia tells Doyle that they haven't yet figured out how to circumvent Phillip's tapping into the satellite. Chloe preps Doyle to upload the component's data to his PDA so that she can confirm its veracity. 4:20 A.M. Doyle tells Nadia that he plans to retrieve Josh if he sees a chance. She orders him not to do that. 4:21 A.M. Karen calls Nadia with a request to view the internal deployment grid in order to track Jack's transfer to a detention facility. Nadia is annoyed, but gives Karen the security code to access the grid. 4:22 A.M. Marilyn Bauer causes a commotion when she demands to see her son. Nadia tries to calm a hysterical Marilyn, telling her that Josh is being held at Division for questioning. Marilyn knows that he is a minor and that she needs to be with him. She threatens to call her lawyers. 4:23 A.M. Nadia has Morris send additional security to deal with Marilyn. Chloe questions why Morris is obediently following orders when he knows it isn't right to put Josh at risk. 4:24 A.M. Morris tells Doyle that he believes what he is doing is absolutely necessary. "The next time I want your opinion I'll ask for it," Doyle snaps. 4:25 A.M. A truck drives head-on toward the SUV carrying Jack. The CTU vehicle swerves off the road. As the driving agent goes to investigate, Jack steals the second agent's gun and forces the man to handcuff himself. Buchanan emerges from the truck with his hands raised. He asks for Jack to be released. Jack sees that Buchanan is causing a decoy. He emerges from the car and knocks the agent out. 4:26 A.M. Buchanan briefs Jack that Doyle is still waiting with Josh for instructions from Phillip. They leave in Buchanan's truck. Clock ticks. 4:31 A.M. Stuart Pressman arrives at CTU to collect his brother Milo's body. Chloe hugs him. 4:32 A.M. Karen is surprised when her clearance to CTU's grid is blocked. She calls Buchanan, who confirms that he has Jack. Karen thanks him for his sacrifice. She says that her denied access means that they've already pegged her as the source. Karen apologizes for all that's happened and says goodbye to her husband. The Secret Service arrives at her office to detain her. 4:34 A.M. Nadia admits to Stuart Pressman that Milo died while saving her life. Stuart acknowledges that Milo was in love with her. 4:35 A.M. Chloe alerts Nadia that Jack escaped with help from Buchanan. Chloe spitefully references that Buchanan agreed with Jack about not using Josh as a pawn. Nadia orders tac teams to intercept Buchanan and Jack. 4:36 A.M. Josh begs Doyle not to hand him over to his "crazy" grandfather. Doyle gives his word that he will get him back. 4:37 A.M. Nadia radios Doyle that Jack has escaped and is on his way there, aided by Karen and Buchanan. They can't move tac teams in because of Phillip's demands. Doyle says he will handle Jack by himself. 4:38 A.M. Clock ticks. 4:41 A.M. Daniels comes to see Karen in a Secret Service holding cell. She admits matter-of-factly to using secure information in order to help Buchanan break Jack from custody. Karen says she learned one thing from dealing with Fayed -- never negotiate with a sociopath. They cannot trust that Phillip will turn over the component. Daniels promises to hold her and Buchanan to the strictest punishment. Karen swears that Lennox knew nothing about what she was doing. Daniels says that Karen will be held responsible if the Russians attack their bases. 4:43 A.M. Phillip calls Doyle and instructs him to walk with Josh toward the shoreline. 4:44 A.M. In the darkness, a small boat comes to shore with two men in commando wetsuits. Doyle approaches one with his gun raised. The man shows the sub-circuit board and places it on the ground. When Doyle picks it up, the component explodes in his face and he is thrown back. The man grabs Josh and runs back to the boat. 4:46 A.M. Jack and Buchanan pull up and see Josh being taken away. They don't have a clear shot without putting Josh at risk. The men in the boat fire back as they pull out into the water with Josh in tow. Jack tends to Doyle, whose face is bloodied. 4:47 A.M. Phillip has his men scan Josh, and they locate the homing device in his arm. They short it out. From her system, Chloe sees that they have lost track of Josh. Morris puts the satellite back up. 4:48 A.M. Jack phones Nadia and tells her that the component was a fake and that Doyle is badly injured. She is upset by this. Clock ticks. 4:53 A.M. Lost in thought, Daniels laments that he unfairly judged Wayne's handling of the terrorist situation in the past few weeks. Lennox notes that, since Karen was proven right, he may want to pardon her in order to not let his misjudgment come out into the open. Daniels says he will consider it later. 4:55 A.M. The trauma team arrives on the scene and determines that Doyle will probably be blind in at least one eye. "I should have listened to you, Jack," Nadia says with remorse. Jack believes that the small boat must be meeting up with a larger vessel. Suddenly, he has an epiphany. Jack asks for locations of oil platforms in the ocean nearby. His father's company has shelter corporations that own oil properties. As Chloe goes to research oil rigs in the area, Morris notices that she is looking pallid. 4:56 A.M. Phillip and Cheng wait at the Tomol Oil platform in the middle of the Pacific. Phillip agrees to hand over the repaired circuit board when he gets his grandson. "Your mistakes have been totally unacceptable," Phillip says. "But China is still my future." 4:58 A.M. As Chloe works, her vision becomes blurry. She faints. Morris rushes to her side and calls out for help. Clock ticks. 5:00 A.M. The boat carrying Josh arrives at the oil platform. Josh is angry, but Phillip wants to take him away for his own sake. Josh becomes terrified when Cheng informs Phillip that the submarine will be picking them up in a half hour. 5:02 A.M. As medics work on Doyle, Jack and Buchanan wait for word from CTU. 5:03 A.M. Morris tends to Chloe in the CTU clinic. The doctor has determined that she is dehydrated and exhausted. Morris doesn't want to leave her side, but Chloe insists he go back to work. Morris reluctantly leaves. 5:04 A.M. Nadia finds an oil platform that has been decommissioned and leased by Phillip's company. Morris runs a thermal scan on it from the satellite. Sure enough, he spots the boat pulling up to it. 5:05 A.M. Morris checks in with the doctor, who cannot release Chloe's health information to him because he is no longer family. 5:06 A.M. Lennox alerts the Vice President that CTU has spotted Phillip Bauer on satellite. Defense Secretary Kanin recommends to Daniels that an air assault would take out the entire oil platform leaving no trace of the component. Lennox is concerned that Josh would not survive an aerial attack, but Daniels believes the boy would be a necessary casualty to prevent an all-out war with Russia. He orders the F-18 planes to strike. 5:07 A.M. As Doyle is loaded onto an ambulance, he apologizes to Jack for not listening to him. Nadia calls Jack to let him know that the White House has ordered an air attack on the oil rig to take place in less than thirty minutes. She cannot stop it. Nadia orders him and Buchanan back to CTU for a debriefing. Jack agrees on the phone. 5:08 A.M. When Jack hangs up, he tells Buchanan that he is going to use the CTU helicopter to save Josh because it's wrong to sacrifice an innocent kid. Knowing he doesn't want that hanging over his head as well, Buchanan offers to fly the chopper. Jack's look expresses his appreciation. 5:10 A.M. The two get in the helicopter that was intended to bring them back to CTU. Jack draws his gun on the pilot. "We're commandeering your helicopter," he says brusquely. The pilot exits the aircraft, and Buchanan takes over the controls. They take off. Clock ticks. 5:14 A.M. The Navy F-18s head towards the oil platform. 5:15 A.M. Secretary Kanin warns Daniels that Russian troops are in formation around the U.S. base. Daniels asks President Suvarov to hold off attacking their base because he is planning an operation to take out the person with the component. 5:16 A.M. Russia intercepts a transmission to a Chinese submarine that is headed to the west coast of America to recover the component. This confirms what Daniels is planning. Daniels assures Suvarov that the air strike is the only way to destroy the component. Daniels gives him a real-time feed of the assault operation. 5:17 A.M. Morris notifies Nadia that Jack hijacked the CTU helicopter with Buchanan and he also wants access to their satellite feed. 5:18 A.M. Nadia radios Jack, saying she cannot authorize his suicide mission. Buchanan chimes in to tell her that what they're doing is the right decision. This hits Nadia hard, and she gives in to Jack's request. "You did the right thing," Buchanan says gratefully. Jack instructs Buchanan to come in low so that they can hit the oil rig from the air and land safely on it. The F-18s lock their radar onto the target. 5:19 A.M. A despondent Josh pleads with his grandfather to let him go. Phillip says it is his responsibility to teach him the right things. Cheng's men spot the CTU helicopter coming towards them. Cheng cautions Phillip to board a small boat. Its locator beacon will be picked up by the sub. Cheng hands Phillip the circuit board and goes outside to see about the chopper. 5:20 A.M. As they reach the platform, Buchanan dives the chopper so that Jack can fire with a machine gun at the men on the deck. Buchanan raises the chopper and is able to land on an upper level. 5:21 A.M. Jack and Buchanan get out and shoot at the oil containers to cause explosions near the gunmen. Cheng is knocked down, and Jack demands to know where Josh is. "It's too late," Cheng says. Jack has Buchanan take Cheng back to the chopper while he goes looking for his nephew. Buchanan forewarns him that there are only ten minutes until the F-18s arrive. 5:22 A.M. Clock ticks. 5:26 A.M. Phillip drags the crying Josh towards the boat and rebukes him for behaving like a child. Josh lashes out physically, and Phillip stops him with a warning that he should not let his emotions control him. 5:27 A.M. Jack makes his way across the deck, taking out gunmen as he searches for the boy. 5:28 A.M. Phillip and Josh arrive at the side of the oil rig. Phillip puts down his gun so that he can lower the boat into the water. Josh grabs the gun and smacks his grandfather in the back of the head with a tool. "I'm not going with you," Josh cries. Phillip pleads that he is only doing it because he loves him. Josh fires the gun, hitting Phillip in the shoulder. 5:29 A.M. Phillip falls back, but is still alive. Jack arrives at the scene and implores Josh to lower the gun because he understands the pain of taking another person's life. Jack pulls the boy in an embrace and takes the weapon. He quickly sends Josh to the waiting helicopter. 5:30 A.M. Jack trains his gun on Phillip, who entreats his son to kill him. Jack refuses. "You are going to be held accountable for what you have done today!" he yells. Yet Phillip notes that Jack will not have time to carry him with the impending air strike. He knows Jack won't want to die alongside him, and Jack realizes he is right. "You're gonna get off easy," Jack says resignedly as he walks away, leaving Phillip to die. 5:31 A.M. Nadia radios Buchanan that he has ninety seconds to get off the platform before the F-18s hit. Josh reaches the helicopter and Buchanan releases a hanging ladder from the chopper door. Kanin gets confirmation that the fighter planes are in range and have their missiles locked. "Take it out," Daniels orders. 5:32 A.M. Buchanan takes control of the helicopter and starts to take off. He radios Jack to meet him on the south side of the platform. Jack climbs onto the railing. The F-18s launch a barrage of JDAM missiles, and fires rock through the platform. When the chopper pulls up, Jack jumps to the ladder. Buchanan flies off with Jack dangling below. 5:33 A.M. As CTU watches satellite imagery of the still-exploding platform, Nadia radios to the helicopter. Buchanan confirms that they got out alive with Jack, Josh and Cheng. Nadia breathes a sigh of relief. 5:34 A.M. Kanin reports that the target has been completely destroyed. President Suvarov sees this on the feed, and orders a withdrawal of his troops. The two leaders acknowledge their truce regardless of the strain on their relationship. 5:35 A.M. As the chopper makes its way across the ocean, Jack deliberately lets go of the ladder and falls into the nearby water. Josh reacts. Buchanan turns back around and sweeps the searchlight over the darkness. Josh is relieved to see Jack swim towards the shore. 5:36 A.M. Jack walks onto the sand and looks up at the CTU chopper hovering overhead. He raises a hand to Buchanan, who gives him an assuring nod. Jack keeps walking. Josh is confused when Buchanan banks the helicopter away from the beach. Buchanan says that Jack isn't ready to go back yet. Clock ticks. 5:40 A.M. The Chinese recall their submarines, and Daniels wants China to know that the Americans are aware of their activities. Daniels says he will address the Chinese another day. Lennox advises the Vice President to allow Karen and Buchanan to resign with their reputations intact because the Administration was cast under a long shadow with all the recent terrorist attacks. Daniels agrees, and Lennox hands over the tape recording that incriminated him trying to take down Wayne. 5:42 A.M. Morris tentatively checks in on Chloe because the doctor won't give him any news. He says that he still loves her, only realizing this after she collapsed and he thought he would lose her. Chloe confesses that she is pregnant. Morris is stunned but happy. 5:44 A.M. Lennox visits Karen in the holding cell and tells her that she and Buchanan are being pardoned. She smiles, and thanks him because she knew he played a part in her release. 5:46 A.M. Buchanan arrives at CTU with Josh and Cheng. Marilyn runs to hug her son. Buchanan has Cheng sent to a detention facility. "My people will not abandon me like you abandoned Jack Bauer," Cheng says ominously. 5:47 A.M. Nadia inquires after Jack, and Buchanan says he didn't want to be rescued. They will never find Jack if he doesn't want to be found. 5:48 A.M. James Heller is at his Pacific Palisades home, dealing with the stress of the day and his daughter's recovery. Jack arrives silently in the house, his wet clothes still clinging to his body. Jack asks for Audrey, raising his gun when Heller refuses. Jack says that he watched his father die and didn't feel anything because the man was dead to him long ago. He expresses his rage at being betrayed by Heller, whom he once looked up to and admired. 5:50 A.M. "The only thing I have ever done is what you and people like you have asked of me," Jack says steely. He asks why Heller didn't try hard enough to get him out of China because he was the one with the power to accomplish it. He accuses Heller of being angry that Audrey went to save him even though he forbade her to do so. Jack says that Heller doesn't understand that kind of loyalty. 5:52 A.M. "I want my life back and I want it now," Jack painfully demands. "Audrey's all I've got." He threatens to disappear with her and kill anyone who tries to stop them. Heller remarks that Jack could never walk away from this lifestyle, and he will bring down Audrey like he did with his own wife. Jack bristles at the memory. Heller beseeches him to realize that he won't be able to take care of Audrey like she deserves. Jack once again demands to see her. Heller leads him to the bedroom. 5:55 A.M. Jack finds an unconscious Audrey hooked up to a heart monitor. He takes her hand, and in a cracked whisper, apologizes that he had once promised to take care of her. "But I'm in a crossroads," he says. He tells Audrey that the only way to protect her is to let her go. Jack says he loves her, and kisses Audrey on the forehead. 5:59 A.M. Jack quietly moves past Heller out of the room and leaves the house. With the gun still in his hand, Jack walks towards the edge of the property that faces the Pacific Ocean. He looks down at the cliff beneath him, standing alone at the precipice. With anguish etched on his face, he stares out to the ocean, contemplating what lies ahead. Silent clock. ^(")^
